The difference is that Gibson is good enough to cover up for such an ugly stat and keep the ducks competitive

There weren't really any available for free this summer, is an easy answer. I do think it could've been worthwhile to try out Hutton but...?

Seems he's coming back down to earth and now they've lost 4 in a row.
I also noticed LA has 2 wins in 10 games?! Man our division is trash.

Worst part of the game was how little emotion and effort from the Flames after they where down a few. By the time Peters pulled Smith the team had basically quit. Pathetic. Even after Neil's 'soft as puppy poop' goal we couldn't keep it out of the back of our net for the on ice goal announcement to be finished.
At the end half the crowd was cheering for 10 goals...

Going to have to disagree with you here. Not only was there room up top but there was plenty of room down low beneath his arm, as well. I've noticed it on a number of times this season where Smith doesn't hug the post overly well. I don't blame him for the other goals tonight but that one I do.

Except the ducks are pretty much in the same position, lucky to have the points they have because they were playing poorly. Flames are in the same boat, probably got away with a few games early.
The silver lining is that losing this big should get the players attention. As bad as it was, it is still only one loss. End of the day, 72 games remaining and they are 2 points out from first in the Pacific.

Pfft. Pittsburgh, what a bunch of losers. Four of their guys didnt even get any points:
Derek Grant, Carl Hagelin, Chad Ruhwedel and... Matt Murray.
And only EIGHT of their guys had 2 or more points. I mean, what kind of pathetic basketball is that.

This has been gnawing at me, why can't a fan spell the player's name correctly? It's James Neal, that's N-e-a-l, not N-e-i-l.

I was at the game. Realized it was over after the 3rd goal. I still have high hopes for this team and this is one of those games you hope triggers something within the players to now have a wake up call. If Neal scores in the 1st from the beauty pass from Gaudreau maybe this game is very different. The Flames actually controlled the play for most of the 1st and Pitt took advantage of the opportunities they got. They are simply a better team. However; all the posts of the GM being on the hot seat and that we hired the wrong coach is so premature. The team is 5-5. Understandably we haven't looked good in 3 games but it is early. I wonder how many posters ragging on Treliving were praising him on what he did this summer? Game was awful but let us start the bonfire when it is December and the Flames are showing they are not a playoff team.

I thought that it was ridiculous that they waited until there was 50 seconds left in the third period of a 9-1 game to announce the 50-50. That was a total bush league move and the flames should be embarrassed.

Outside of Giordano and Tkachuk (and actually also Smith weirdly) and after watching this team over the last couple years, I honest to God think we have a heartbeat problem.
The core key players do not care enough. Period. I’m not sure how you fix it. Actually, I don’t think you can, it’s one of those things that they have to change from within which sounds cheesy and cliche but is what I see.
The players don’t care.
Coming out like that after the Montreal game is crazy to me. They have no pride and they don’t play for each other. Selfish boys against teams of men.

Having to go to China to play meaningless games really screwed up our preseason. I said it back when that dumb trip was announced, but what a kick in the chops for Peters as a new coach trying to bring together a team with lots of changes in the offseason. No surprise we are 5-5 and look like a bunch of individuals.
I hope the Flames owners are happy with whatever big payoff they received for agreeing to that fiasco.

I sat through all 60 minutes of that. I feel like a deserve a medal or something.
What a hot mess.
Someone explain Hanifin to me. He’s looked nothing short of unspectacular all year and that’s back to back games he’s looked downright putrid.
