Goal scoring depth was a major problem the last few seasons. Lots of credit to Tre for making some key acquisitions this summer.
Tied, currently, with Chicago for most goals for in WC.
Need to tighten up defensively but that’s more about hard work and commitment than skill.

I think the work ethic was there tonight, though a bit sloppy at times. Rittich bailed them out and they finally gave him some run support.
Great game - entertaining and the 4th goal was a beauty to behold! Couldn't figure out why it wasn't whistled down at the time, but happy that it worked!! Loved to see Rasmus blow out of the group with his arms up!

Reminds me of the 94 win in the Garden when Andrei Trefilov stopped 53 shots in a 4-1 win. Granted this Rags team is nothing like that one.

I have long wanted a Giordano-Hamonic pairing as a true shutdown pair and I really hope we see that when Hamonic returns and is up to speed. Valimaki and Andersson continue to impress and seem to get better every game. Andersson acquitted himself very nicely on the pairing with Gio tonight and didn't really look out of place to me. Could we really see Stone and Brodie being the 6/7 guys on this team? Tremendous defensive depth.
Happy for Hathaway, thought he has played well in his few games. If he is our 4th line winger with other youngsters I like the direction the Flames will be going. I really want to like Jankowski but he is definitely off right now. Perhaps he is pressing a little too hard or too worried about making a mistake. Hope he can turn it around.
Rittch was great. He should have started after his last game so he better damn well start the next one. There's no way you can say he doesn't deserve it.
Entertaining if not sloppy game but I will take the big two points.

Flames are just 1 point back of the division lead with a game in hand and the highest goal differential in the Pacific.
Very good start and I think this team is just scratching the surface

I know TJ has a real bad night but at this point but I still think it’s highly unlikely he’ll be a healthy scratch. Best bet would be a 3 man platoon for the bottom pair between Valimaki, Andersson and Stone. The rookies look real damn good and neither deserve to be sent down but I’m sure they’ll still have the typical rookie gaffes from game to game and will sit here and there.

I’m still not worried about Neal. He’s getting chances and still snake bitten. I still believe his goals are gonna come in bunches.

Tonight was only the 2nd game in 8 that the Flames have played a team that wasn't top 5/6 in the conference. The only other team was the Blues. Considering the good record with the early strong competition we've had to start the year, that's pretty encouraging.
Also, I hope Smith enters his good phase because when he does this team is going to be darn near unbeatable.

Yes, but I was also taught to take your hat off indoors, and to let your hair dry before putting a hat on
He's no longer an 18yo Calder candidate; man's been one of the best for some time now. Dressing like it wouldn't hurt's all I'm saying

Finally was able to watch this game and Flames certainly were fortunate to get the W.
But they just seem a lot more dangerous this year, which I think should allow them to win some games they shouldn't (like this one) and give some of the top teams all they can handle.
But please don't make playing like this a habit.
Think I'm going to enjoy Rittich putting pressure on for more starts.

Crash Davis: Your shower shoes have fungus on them. You'll never make it to the bigs with fungus on your shower shoes. Think classy, you'll be classy. If you win 20 in the show, you can let the fungus grow back and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the show, however, it means you are a slob.
Gaudreau's won 20 in the show, he's colorful.

Good for Rittich. He had these flashes last year too when his starts were laid out in advance, hope he keeps it up, and also is able to perform when called on, on short notice.
Not nearly enough love for Hathaway here. GWG and final nail. Goals in the league are pretty hard to come by for 4th liners, but they can pot them, and he brings it every shift and gets involved stirring the pot and sacrifcing the body to make things happen... very under rated, for those who are simply looking at who else should be playing in his slot each night, as he brings an element that no other roster player really does outside of Tkachuk, being paid the league minimum to do so.
The flyby on Anderson was good too.

Meh. I'm a fan. In fact, after you made the point I'm trying to figure out if I could pull it off in the workplace. Have you seen what they're wearing with suits these days? Sneakers and un-tucked shirts aren't uncommon at all. Hell, you can even buy wing tips with those weird giant michelin man soles in funky colours. Viva la personality!
