I’d love to get a deal centering around Hanifin, a prospect, pick and another player, if that’d be enough or not. Then gotta find a place for Stone or maybe trade Frolik as a salary dump to make room. You get that deal done and we are among the front runners to make a cup run and are set up for a few years to continue doing so. I’d love to see it get done somehow.

You have to take any report with a grain of salt here. Dorion and Melnyk know exactly how sensative Pr wise this is. This stuff getting leaked isn't a coincidence. Crafting the ourney through rumors, I'm guessing both these players are likely to end up there, and at that point then the Sens look like they've gotten a haul because the expectation right now is they'd only get one of them.

Tampa needs to get in there with a 1st, Johnson, Sergachev. Whoever. Hedman needs his bud.

If I was Ottawa I'd be targeting my own first round pick from Colorado. Lol what a joke of a franchise.

To Ottawa: zadarov, Ottawas 2019 first, Colorado 2019 first, compher
To Colorado: Karlsson, Stone

Jump start the rebuild.

That would be a haul, though. They wouldn't have to play the media for it. Anyway I doubt either GM is the source.

Why would Colorado do that? Right now the avs are licking their chops knowing the second karlson is traded, the only thing stopping them from first overall is the ping pong balls. At worst avs are drafting 3rd.

What are the chances that with the third overall pick you're going to get a player that is a top 5 defenseman in the NHL? Nate MacKinnon has entered his prime and the team is nowhere near good enough.

With a top draft pick you have him in control for relatively cheap. Getting Karlsson in his prime is one thing, but you're getting him in his prime and paying market value for him. On a team like Colorado who will have to sign a lot of guys to their prime contracts, I'm not sure he'd be a good fit, budget-wise. As a player he'd fit in great. Business wise it's a tough one to fit in I'd think.

If they weren't going to trade Hoffman within the division or conference they sure aren't going to trade Karlsson anywhere but the West.

I'm sure they're willing to take a smaller return that a Western team will offer over trading Karlsson to an eastern team.

I bet they would but Honka is not near what Heiskanen is. If I am the Sens I hang up on that switch off.

Ask for both now lol. Just start a bidding war and let's hope a team from the west over pays for him

He really isn't what Dallas needs to take the next step. They already have karlsson lite on their blueline. What a waste.

Stars want to lose games 6-5 instead of 4-3

Default The Athletic: Stars are frontrunners to land E. Karlsson. Ryan not part of the deal.

That’s a simple way to look at it. Karlsson arguably controls the game more than any other defenseman in the league. Has the puck on his stick more than any other defenseman that’s for sure.

You have him or Klingberg on the ice for 50 minutes a game? That’s tough to beat. Much tougher than just having Klingberg on the ice for 25 minutes.

Bottom line is good teams have good players on them and Karlsson is one of the best.

How about Brodie, Stone, Bennett, Jankowski, and a 1st for Karlsson?

They hang up. Karlsson is a generational D man. You are offering a guy who has been bad for two years, an expensive depth D, a former 4th overall pick who has not not shown his draft position and may never, a guy who has been slowly developing but as of now is a 3rd line player with upside, and what will probably be a pick in the 20's of the 1st rnd. Even Dorion is not that incompetent.

19 1st, Dube, Valimaki, Bennett, Stone maybe gets them to at least think about it but again ~ Karlsson is a boat anchor type contract even if he is right now far and away the best point producing Dman in the league where is he going to be half through an 11 mill per year contract? I don't think dealing 5 pieces for 1 here would be ideal asset management for Calgary ~ biggest focus now should be clearing up some of the dead weight in the bottom 6 with Brouwer and Lazar being the main guys we should be focused on moving out of the roster. No need to go big game hunting at this point ~ in 2 years from now T.Hall becomes UFA and that's the big contract we should be looking at down the road IMO.

Would love T Hall but I think banking on him ever hitting UFA is a pretty well a hope and a prayer. As everyone knows, it is very rare for players of that caliber to ever actually hit free agency. I believe Karlsson would if Ottawa decided to ride out next year but they clearly see the writing on the wall. Any Karlsson deal would have to include a player who is going to make a fairly substantial amount of money so that deal wouldn’t work, not that I think it’s even really in the range. Pretty much any deal has to start with Tkachuk (no thanks) or Hanifin (absolutely would explore) as far as I’m concerned.

You get the absolute best deal if you wait until they're more desperate that they are going to lose him for nothing. I'd at least wait out the summer.
