Here's just a spectacular piece of crap meant to make money on the Star Wars craze
I watched Battle Beyond the Stars when it was released and I liked it. One of those movies I'd hate to see now. Another one: Dark Star, John Carpenter's first movie. Famous for the alien made out of a beach ball. I think it was 6th birthday. Looking back, full credit to my dad for not walking out. But if you were a kid in the 70s, you had to take what you could when it came to science fiction movies.

Don't go back and watch it. A few years ago me and a bunch of friends had an annual tradition where it would be a weekend of movie and booze and we'd try to relive our childhood with movies that we watched when we were kids.
BBTS was really hard to get through.

Also I've mentioned this in other places, but I love listening to 'the flop house', which picks apart some of these flops in glorious and hilarious detail: https://www.flophousepodcast.com/

Exactly. But if that's what a person LIKES...the best drama in the world isn't going to interest them.
This is apparently a much more difficult concept than I originally believed.
Because most people aren't that close-minded?
Pretty easy to get people to watch and like the best of another genre that isn't their favourite. Heck it happens to me in music as well, I will like the absolute top of genres that aren't my favourite. I've even been converted to like genres that at one point I hated.
How close minded would you have to be to only like movies of your favourite genre? Yikes.
As for worst movie? Probably Blair Witch. Only movie I've considered walking out of the theatre while watching.

The two movies I remember paying to rent and turning off for being terrible were Matchstick Men and the first Captain America.
When you say first Captain America movie, do you mean like the 1944, 1979 or 1990 version? If you mean the current 'first' Captain America: The First Avenger movie, too each their own, but I just couldn't fathom having that on my worst movie list.
While in University I kept a running list of my five worst movies. I found it:
-Punch Drunk Love
-The New World
-10 Things I Hate About You
-Bring It On
-Godzilla (1998)
Looking back some of those are not that horrible but they didn't meet my expectations and left me bored and angry at the time.
I think most people went into that one expecting a silly funny Sandler movie but it was nothing like that. I usually hate movies like that but once I gave it a chance I liked it. Probably Sandler's best actual serious acting performance.

Drive Angry with Nic Cage. I mean, most of his movies could be on a "worst movies" list because he's an awful actor but that one really takes the cake for garbage movie.
