Yeah, that's just that there is no extension in the current trade.

There are conditions on the trade in case he does re-sign, which Wilson hints at is possible. The Sharks have not said that they do not intend to sign him.

I hope they don't sign - as I think he fits us perfectly, but when looking at it...SJ or CGY? Or possibly even LA or VGK? I wonder how desirable the Flames are in comparison. Time will tell. Part of the reason we didn't get Kane may very well be that they couldn't come to contract terms (entirely possible that was part of the deal we working on).

Comparing Kane vs Stewart down the stretch seems like a recipe for disappointment. There's a reason Stewart was available for free. Outside of a hot streak in the first 6 games of the season, he's only had 3 goals and 2 assists. He's been out-produced by Troy Brouwer for God's sake.

And I can't say I watched a lot of Wild games but the comments I've read about him seem to indicate that he's defensively poor and prone to bad penalties. I think you're betting against the odds expecting him to even be a lineup regular. I know Kane has his warts too but the two players are not comparable.

The guy gets a lot of criticism for his past antics, but I thought this was a nice gesture by him

At the 56 sec mark reminded of the famous Dewie Finn quote.

All it does is reduce his value to the Sharks. Basically, they're paying him whatever they pay him plus trading down. No other team has that handicap in offering him a contract. So it seems very unlikely that the Sharks will come to the table with the best offer.

They aren't comparable, but Kane hasn't exactly lit it up since mid-November. 12 of his goals came before Nov. 22. He went really dry in January (though he rebounded a little in February with ).

Makes you wonder what lead to that happening and why zero team mates stepped up to back up Kane?

IIRC Kane was traded a week later

Kane making an immediate impact. Just drilled an Oiler, took the puck, got an assist on the goal that tied the game. He just drew a penalty as well. The guy is good, and plays on the edge - I can definitely understand why we were in on him.

It's ok, we got Stewart. He was free!

Have we started that thread yet, Kane vs Stewart?
Its 2-0 Kane.

Who cares about points or wins or losses, Stewart a good guy in the locker room and Kane isn't!

Rob Ray wasn't exactly complimentary about Kane and he was biting his tongue hard this morning.

Basically he eluded to 20 guys in the locker room that were very happy that he was gone.

The problem is that he's only motivated part of the time. It's a big game for him on a new club, so you'd expect him to play well. He's also playing for a fat contract in the off season.

For his entire career, when things are just day to day, Kane has floated. Maybe he'll mature, but it's going to take some time and consistency for him to drop that stigma.

Then he's just a corporate shill. He was singing Kane's praises prior to him being traded - he did so on the Fan earlier this year.

To turn-face like that speaks more to Rob Ray's character than Evander Kane's.

I wouldn't say its a black hole for leadership. Falling short of expectations led Doug Wilson to make some kind of change...ripping letters off guys jerseys rather than trading the core was his answer.

Only leadership issue i heard was Thornton was too edgy with younger guys...sense of humor was too sharp for millennials.

Sharks are tight nit and close group with good leadership. It's a good set-up i think for Kane to come into.
