When it comes to kids, there's also the question of free will. A friend of mine from the UK used to go on vacation to France with her family, and her stepdad insisted she not wear a top when they went to the beach. She's still angry about it.

That came across as creepy, Dad wanting his Step Daughter to not wear a top.
Kind of like a B movie plot with Dennis Franz as the Step Father.

I'm not surprised in the least. Soon as I heard about it (thought it was a joke a first) I had a feeling crap would hit the fan. Sure enough, here we are. Helen Lovejoys indeed. Western culture at its uptight finest.

Do you have any evidence that nudist events attract more pedos the Change rooms on a regular day. Is the risk of pedophiles at this event so much higher than the average day to day risk that it requires intervention? You seem to be reacting based on fear rather than any rational piece of information.

There are plenty of examples of people using the "lifestyle" as an excuse for their pedo actions. Do one quick search on google.
Anyway 18+ is a reasonable expectation IMO...sorry if you have a different opinion. Yes there are pedophiles everywhere...the kids usually aren't naked, especially for an extended period of time.
What about parents who don't believe in modern medicine? Parents who want to marry off a 12 year old? Extreme examples but kids can't make their own decisions and it's not out of the ordinary for society to protect them. FWIW I had no problem with the event itself unit I saw the family friendly thing. Knowing the event is open to the public and at a public facility...I think 18+ is reasonable. Again my opinion, sorry if it's not progressive enough for the CP mob. (Who aren't going anyway and certainly not taking their own children)
And no I didn't sign that ridiculous petition
My last take on the topic

I am sure there are also examples of people using parks or beaches or regular swimming events as an excuse for their pedo actions.

Basing the prevalence of something based on a subjective “plenty” of google results, instead of any actual facts or figures, is silly. Bars that low are synonymous with empty fear mongering.
18+ might be reasonable, but it’s a family friendly event, and that too is reasonable.
Statistically it’s much more dangerous to take your wife/girlfriend out anywhere, as the risk of them being sexually assaulted is significantly higher than your child becoming the victim of a pedophile.
It’s amazing that people assume clothing is what keeps people safe, especially when it’s the difference between minimal clothing and none.
They’re swim trunks, not armour. Name one criminal thing that could happen at a nudist swimming event that couldn’t happen at a regular swimming event.

"Family Event"
"Children of all ages welcome"
Sounds like a NAMBLA event to me...

I wouldn't take my kids here either - because I'm not a nudist. If I was, I imagine that my kids and I would have been to previous nude events before we decided to go to a big swimming event.

Western culture? Can you name the countries where full nudity is acceptable in public?
There are only a handful of countries in the world where being naked in public is tolerated, and they're all in northern Europe (which, last time I checked, was part of Western culture). In fact, Germany, etc. have recently become less accepting of public nudity due to immigration from countries where people are much more socially conservative.
Covering the genitals with clothing once puberty hits is a human universal, found in every culture that anthropologists know about. That taboo has only recently been overturned, and only among some people in a handful of Western countries.
So you've pretty much got it backwards.

Oh for the love of.....
We aren't talking about people walking naked down the streets of Calgary for all to see. if you can't see the difference between that and a bunch of like minded people getting together at a single facility for one night, well I can't help you.

I wonder what Jason Kenney and his supporters would have to say about "parental rights" now...

I will vote for Kenny when the time comes, so I guess that makes me a Kenny supporter and therefore an authority to speak to this question.
I don't care.

This isn't a nudist group holding a nudist event for their group though...the group is hosting the event and invited the general public.
I know for a fact CPS and Child and Family Services is worried about who might be showing up. But what do they know
All for the event...think having children there is a very bad idea and they are asking for trouble

You have to bye tickets, you can't just roll in and pay at the gate. FYI, it is sold out. Also, as it is afterhours for the building, I suspect they can control access better than usual.

Not everything in life is written on the internet...I have personal contacts in those organizations. They are reluctant to comment and give this event event more publicity.
What does it being sold out or having to buy tickets have to do with it? There are plenty of joe blows from the public going, random guy on my hockey team bought tickets...and I can assure you he is no member of this or any other nudist group.
Anyway I have already spent too much time on it...I really think they are asking for trouble by not restricting the age. For consenting adults I don't care at all.

So CPS and Child and Family Services are worried about public safety but stay silent....

Maybe he always wanted to go to an event.
I really hope that this events leads to a banning of all pedos from school grounds, regular swimming, beaches, in short anywhere kids can be seen.

Yeah it needs to be 18 and over. Nudity is not normal for us and most other cultures. You need to be able to consent legally to do it and since there is likely no age of consent for skinny dipping in a public pool I would say it should default to what other legally adult only activities require.

I hope that they have an ambulance standing buy, because some idiots going to take the dare of doing a belly slide down the slide and burning his junk off.
Of someone coming down too soon after the person before him and slamming his balls into somebodies face.
