Conroy still put up 48 points the season before with Keenan. He was definitely on the decline but I think B Sutter was also a factor is his poor play.
That was actually two seasons prior to the season that I mentioned. In 2008-09, Conroy had 48 points. He had just 15 the next, and 2 in 18 games in 2010-11 before abruptly retiring before the Heritage Classic at 1009 NHL games.

I missed the second period, so basically watched the two worst periods of the season tonight. Simply in awe at the mediocrity. This Ducks team makes it look so easy. If Treliving isn't going to fire Gulutzan, then I want his head too for trading away a pick that could possibly be Tkachuk's brother. Tkachuk was the only player other than Smith who actually looked like he gave a damn out there. I'll take two Tkachuks and zero Trelivings/Gulutzans any day. Blow this thing up. If they can't show up for this game they aren't a playoff team and we should be trying to get whatever assets we can for trash like Hamonic.
If we still had our first round pick I’d agree but giving the Isles a lottery pick would be an unmitigated disaster and could cost Treliving his job.
This is our only hope. I have said it countless times. That draft pick may be the only way outta this mess. It is the one thing that may force Treliving's hand.
Also sad, if we look forward to next year and the chance that GG is still at the helm, is we'll be adding exciting new pieces like Dube and Mangiapane into the lineup and subjected to their creativity being stifled as they are forced to play in this system.

I was counting 86 to 90 as our "glory years". The 27 years since (also known as my entire adolescent and adult life) cheering for this team has been a nearly universally disappointing, frustrating, and heartbreaking experience.
I became a Flames fan too (or at least my memories) when I was 7 in 1986. It is so sad that the "glory years" include 2 first round losses and a 4 game sweep at the hands of the Oilers. But that was the greatest period of time ever as a Flames fan.
Whilst I totally agree with you, Treliving’s had a long time to ruminate on that hiring, and the writing was on the wall since November. If he isn’t going to do it now, I don’t think he will until the trade deadline at the earliest. He’s not an impulsive guy, and is very considered when he makes personnel changes. I just don’t see it happening any time soon UNLESS they lose something like 6-7 in a row from now.

Fire at the trade deadline? Seriously? Why bother at that point?

Don't like Monahan's lack of energy outside of that little area around the opposition's net.
There has to be more to his game that is well above average when the guy is skating on a top line.
He's lethal as hell when he's on, but a complete non factor when either he or Johnny isn't feeling it.
Monahan is a pure goal scorer. He snipes goals from in close. That's his game, and he's very good at it.
But no, he doesn't bring anything else to table. He's not good without the puck, strong on the forecheck or backcheck. He doesn't cycle especially well , he's not physical, and he doesn't have another level of intensity. What you see is what you get. At this point, you pretty much have to accept it.

No, they'll be deemed "too good" for 4th line minutes and sent to stockton so that we can play really bad players on our 4th line.
I feel silly ranting about our 4th line in a game where the team sucked, but if he's going to play them so much, it merits criticism.
