No matter how mad anyone is here, you know Brodie feels 1000 times worse. But we got a point (and an eastern team got the bonus point so who cares there?). Team is still playing decent, 1 point off the division lead and tied for second. Regroup and prepare for Dallas. I bet Brodie has a huge game on Friday to redeem himself.

This isn't a funk, this is a player that hit his ceiling defensively and can't progress any further ala Phaneuf. It's time for Treliving to cut his losses and ship him out while there's still a chance of getting a decent return
|
...or GG could try him on the side he was good on. It's not hard to see that he only started to play worse when he was switched sides.

I don't know if I am buying that. I don't think left side vs right side makes much of a difference to a D man as far as the defensive zone goes. I could be wrong though.

I'm saying that not scoring at all is a significant failure. Good teams will have failures, that's fine, but it seems like people are giving Brodie's error disproportionate weight vs. the offense that accomplished nothing.

This time around remember to fire the coach first, then trade the player.
Not the other way around.

We have one of the best OT records in the league. Add to that, GG has done an excellent job selecting which players play in OT and the SO. The results speak for themselves.
How can you argue that?

Why?
The Flames' top-six is pretty much set. Trading Brodie immediately throws Brett Kulak, who has definitely looked worse (not bad, since Brodie is very good, but worse), into the top-4 and likely means a Bartkowski-Stone bottom pair.
Like, who do you want to push out of the lineup up front?

This is probably the only way the Flames should "move" Brodie

What the hell?
Ohhh yeah, he had 4pts the next game, almost got the hat trick and had the crowd chanting his name.
Well played with the reverse jinx there. Let's see if he lights Dallas up.

This. Columbus deserved that win, they shut our offense down. We get half the points they do without even scoring a goal! I think on Brodie's mishap, he wanted to stop the puck behind the net, but when he looked up he was surprised to see two blue jackets pressed so high so he tried to get the puck around the net so he could pass it for a 2-on-1 the other way. As he was thinking, he lost control of the puck for a second and Foligno was right there.

Gentle reminder if not already posted.
1 point out of 1st.
Also the Flames occupy a playoff spot at U.S. Thanksgiving.

A team that is 7-2-1 in it's last 10 games somehow makes GG and idiot?
There isn't a GM in this league that would fire a coach with a record like that.

What annoyed the most about that game though is that Calgary was touted as having one the deepest bluelines coming into this season, yet they were absolutely schooled defensively by the Jackets. I thought they were finally coming around after the Washington game, but looking at what Columbus did tonight makes me realize just how far off the Flames D is

While I agree, it then forces another Dman to play his offside or it forces Rasmus in for one of Stone or Hamonic to keep the righty/lefty intact for the other 2 pairs.

If it makes the team better im all for it.A true top line RW would be perfect.Versteeg could go.

TJ is the kind of guy that will become one of the best defensemen as soon as we trade him, because a smart coach will play him on his off-side.
It's not his fault Brodie is stuck playing on the side Glen has him on. If Glen wasn't so stubborn on which side he "should" play on Brodie would be amazing. I don't mind GG, but he is stuck in his ways and is blind to how good Brodie is on his off-side.
Let's trade all our player when they have less value and then we can be as good as the Oilers!!!
|
If we are stuck with GG, Brodie has to go. I would love it if we would drop GG, out Brodie on his off-side, and see how it works for the rest of the season.
