Bennett with 8 shifts in the first. 4 in the second, and 4 in the third, and one in the third was 8 seconds long, and played 57 seconds in the last half of the third. Toss in a terrible penalty and a bad night again for 93.
Brouwer played almost 3 minutes of the last 10 of the third in comparison.
It you were the coach would Bennett's game tonight give you confidence to play him late?
Brouwer played better and frankly is deserving of the ice Gully is giving him. Bennett...I don't know. I think next move should be press box for a game or two because his confidence is completely shot
How does that simple little move so baffle goalies. He picks the corner but it’s not hard at all. I think he hesitates just slightly, lets the come in just a little closer to his body to change the angle? Is there more? It’s so subtle yet in both shootouts the goalies were lost.
It’s the quick flick. Look at Monahans goal earlier in the game. No shoulder or arm movement that the goalie can tell he’s ready to shoot. The puck position with regard to his stick and his feet is in the perfect position for him to just quickly flick it and flick it up, without hesitation. Add in the fact that these guys noticed this goalie goes down with a slight fake, and it makes it even easier.

Lazar needs to be upgraded on, or at least moved off that line when Jagr comes back. His offense and hockey IQ is not good enough.
He can replace someone, either Stajan or even Versteeg on the 4th line. Or sit in the pressbox. Whatever.
Lazar needs to play top six minutes or he'll always be a borderline NHL player, waive him to a AHL where he can play 20 minutes a game for the rest of the year.

Brouwer is fine. Overpaid sure but fine and I have no issue with him. The efffort is always there. Bennett seems to have some Baertschi qualities of entitlement going on.

Just got home from the game. Was worried near the end, but OT was absolutely great to watch, tactically, and the shootout was a treat, of course.
Stone has a cannon of a shot! And he likes to shoot from the point, no hesitation. He should be used on PP more.

Not true at all in a cap world. Compromises have to be made. It’s not like Hamonic is in our top 2.
This is as short sighted now as it was at the time of the trade / Stone signing.
If we run into trouble a year or two from now, we trade from a position of strength. D-men are good commodities in the trade market.
There is zero issue with what we're paying our #4 and #5 D right now. If anything, tonight showed how good it was to have Stone step up into our top four.
Really odd thing to take issue with.

The problem with Bennett is that he is now hurting the team...not scoring is bad enough
Felt bad for Bennett. You could see the kid's struggling and wants to turn it around. Jagr can't come back soon enough to give him and Jankowski some much needed confidence.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
I see chemistry between Bennett & Jankowski, not much with Lazar. Lazar is hurting that line more often than not.
Agreed on Lazar; he just doesn't seem to have a very high hockey IQ. Looking forward to seeing Jagr and Jankowski, I think they can mesh. Not sure what to think about Bennett right now. He's not doing anything well. If he at least drives the net, he'll eventually benefit playing with Janko and Jagr. That would be a start.

I’m gonna say it until I’m blue in the face. Treliving is far and away a better GM than Chia every day of the week. That’s what, 3 or 4 times he’s been completely punked by Treliving. Not that Treliving is all that good anyways, but compared to Charelli he looks like Holland or Sather. ****ing infuriating how Chiarelli has ruined the roster.

Saddledome was booing Hall each time he touched the puck. That was hilarious.

Bennett needs a goal to lift the world that he's carrying on his shoulders. He cares too much and his confidence is shot.

What? I haven’t seen or heard anything about Bennett’s “sense of entitlement”. Do you have some facts to back that up or are you pulling crap out of your ass?

Simple passes lead to another lead for Calgary. Devils aren’t playing bad in the 3rd so far, they just aren’t getting the bounces.
Quote:
Yeah, feels that way right now. It hasn't been the whole game in any of the three, but I keep thinking about the 3rd period in Vancouver, first 10 minutes and the entire 3rd period (and much of the 2nd) against Edmonton. And this last period here in Calgary.

why doesn’t hall do what monahan and tkachuk do, he has a wicked shot

Take this point and run with it. The 4-4 game required two bad goals for Smith to allow from the sideboards, two goals off rebounds, and a myriad of big stops by Kinkaid and/or last minute defending (especially Lovejoy, who had a really good game) to get this far.
I don’t think NJ lost a second point, they just took one in a wild game. 1-1-1 is fine for this trip – presuming the Devils do not fall apart now (that’s kind of what happened after last year’s trip. It wasn’t just the trip that was suffering.)
Quote:
Can we beat those ****s from Edmonton on Thursday? I wanna beat Marty's team too, but **** Edmonton.
