What a welcome change that was. Didn't think this team was going to clutch it out when down 2-0, but there it is and Chucky with the shoot-out winner to boot. Flames also handed LA their first home loss this season. No one is safe!
Calgary Flames? More like the Calgary Shames, ammirite?!?
Quote:
Sean Monahan? More like Sean Gonahan them a loss!
Quote:
Johnny Gaudreau? More like Johnny Goodbye! Let's show them who the best Gaudreau is!!!
Sizing up the opposition

Then again there is a Flames fan here dressed like a wizard and carrying a doll.
Good times
Quote:
interesting to see their first line. gaudreau has 11 points at LW, monahan has 8 points at C, and their first line RW has 1 point in ferland.. thats crazy. talk about discrepancies lol.

We don’t seem to play well at home vs Calgary.
Missing the Legend too

hopefully jagr
is watching with "the travelling jagrs"
Quote:
And pretending they are something close to as authentic and awesome as he is…well, they probably are
Quote:
First game I’m gonna be at for the season! Really bummed Jagr won’t be playing tonight.
You had one job

How did Fiala miss that
Quote:
WHY DID FIALA TRY TO SLAPSHOT THAT.. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO MISS THAT
Quote:
Fiala with his best ‘hold my beer’ Craig Smith impersonation.
Quote:
Also. My iPhone is trying to autocorrect Fiala to ‘goals’. Too soon.
Quote:
I really hope this doesn't mess up Fialas head like it did Smiths... you can tell he's pressing as it is...
Quote:
I just assumed that miss was Smith again.
haha
Quote:
Oh no....
We put Fiala on a line with Smith
A much relieving 2nd intermission
Quote:
That's was a crazy period, how the score is the same I don't know
Quote:
Garbage play by Ekholm. Glad to get out of the period still up 2.
Quote:
We should score the dagger to kill any remaining hope CGY has.
Quote:
I would like to play in the other end for awhile
Quote:
We are not turtling.
We are withstanding attacks and no calls. Plus we are basically a man or two short with Cody and now RV.
Quote:
Yeah, we're getting out shot attempted 40 to 64. That's rather more than just score effects.
Chucky and Ferly: “Most dangerous lead in hockey!”
Quote:
felt it coming
they’ve been pushing and we’re just sitting back taking it
Quote:
Well those two big swings tally up to zero Fenwicks
Quote:
Sigh
We’ve played most of the third in our own end, so who is surprised. Pekka’ good but he can’t be the offense too.
Quote:
Way to throw the game.
Quote:
We're trying to lose this game. It is tied now.
Quote:
Just a pathetic effort. Flames have completely dominated us 5-on-5. This has just been brutal.
Quote:
suddenly
that empty net miss by fiala earlier becomes relevant
Quote:
I hate Mike Smith. That is all.
Quote:
We were really begging for that.. brutal effort after the 1st period.
Quote:
Jeeez.... pathetic....
Quote:
That's what happens when you spend all period sitting back and trying to protect a lead.
Quote:
63-37 shot attempts in favor of the Flames.
A reputation to fear
Quote:
Well we got a loser point because no way we beat Calgary in 3vs3
Quote:
Tonight is the night we do the impossible. We make it to the shootout.
Quote:
Calgary one of the best OT teams and we are one of the worst. The odds aren't good to win in OT.
Quote:
You're welcome for the undeserved point Calgary. We don't believe in OT, so here, have another.
Fiala cracks in the shootout
Quote:
STOP TRYING TO BE CUTE AND FANCY JUST CONTROL THE PUCK!!!!
Quote:
Because Fiala... wanted to... okay.
Quote:
Fiala trying to be a little to cute there
Quote:
Well, now we know not to put Fiala in for a shootout.
Chucky ends it
Quote:
Fitting for a garbage player to end a garbage game. Preds are really into charity spreading all these free points around.
The Stubborn “Other Team Luck” Guy

Of course as I tune into the Flames game, Tkachuk scores....

Turned it off...tuned back to the Flames game, they tie it.

so stop watching!

I need to witness a win tonight (a Flames loss).

Flames win.
What a ****ty ****ing night . **** off .

I defend Stajan a lot (usually because criticism is overblown). But tonight he definitely got sloppy as the game went on. I think he gets fatigued. He has a lot of heavy work on the boards because of his zone starts, and eventually it catches up.

Definitely gripping their sticks a bit tight in the first but still thought they out-played them 5 on 5 regardless of that.
The 2nd and 3rd was all Calgary though.
The Flames out shot and out chanced the Preds in the first...I really didn't understand the outrage. Frustration because they couldn't get a break or a call sure but it was a little ridiculous.

I was just going to post this exact sentiment. I've been a big Stajan defender too, but tonight he just seemed a step behind and not able to clear anything. That turnover along the boards with less that 5 in the third could have ended very poorly. Fatigue could definitely be it. If so I wouldn't mind him taking an off/on role this season and seeing Hamilton draw in again tomorrow.

You agree that you enjoy complaining? OK. No wind out of my sails. You are the wind beneath my wings.
You see I complain about coaching and lack of intensity during a game and I make no apologies for it. You on the other hand "enjoy" complaining about other CP members you do it in practically every thread and you have for years.
Big difference. Except for whatever reason you decided to take a shot at me whatever enjoy yourself since that is what u get off on.
Wanted to see a few line up changes for tomorrow but with the comeback you should probably bring the same crew back out tomorrow. Was going to say Smith should play too but after seeing Lack's stats vs the Blues I can't see how he doesn't start.
Flames played well for most of that game. Preds sat back after the early lead, but are also pretty overrated in my opinion. They are of course excellent from the blue line, but they have as weak of a forward group as any team in the league.
Bennett will of course get praise after the move to the wing, but i actually think he’s been one of the best players this season. I do question his hockey sense and ability to execute offensively. But he plays hard and does a lot of good things. Going to the wing seems to give him more confidence to be creative.
Ferland’s best game of the season so far. Backlund excellent. Tkachuk has a rare skillset.
The D need to join the offense more and that is a factor holding back the offense thus far.
Impressed with their effort tonight and glad it paid off.

I did not realize how much offense Janko generates by shielding and using his long reach. Bennett was electrifying and should have had a couple of points. If he continues to play with Janko he will get some gifts. I thought Stajan really struggled and was bailed out by Smith a few times.
It is quite a thing, hey? I compared him to Mario Lemieux in the way that he does that, or even similar to Jagr. Just the way he kind of goes around guys with his reach, or just keeps the puck away from players with active sticks and still ends up making solid plays when he doesn't even look like he has leverage. I think it makes him very difficult to defend, and gives him a huge advantage in breaking-up plays on the defensive end.
- Power forward move to shrug off a forward and two defenders to pot a goal off will and determination alone AND he's willing to throw down... Then he scores the SO winner with the soft hands of a scorer's touch!
