Even if Jankowski starts the year in Stockton do you honestly see him spending any more than half the season there? Because I sure don't. He will play meaningful games for the Flames this year. I am certain of that.

If Jankowski goes to Stockton the fans will be ruthless on every stajan and Brouwer error with the puck.

I don't think it's definitive enough to just eject a guy like Stajan. Jankowski may have more offensive skills than Stajan, and even that I doubt, but I disagree he is a far superior hockey player. He has done nothing to prove that yet.
I understand what you're saying but I compare it to Monahan's situation. Granted, the roster is different then compared to now but Monahan had a great preseason against exhibition rosters too. He earned a spot and proved himself with a 20 goal season.

Jankowski is in a similar situation. He's proven himself against whatever competition was put in front of him. He's ready. They ideally should find a spot for him (as they said they would do if a young guy came in and did well).

It might just be bad timing for him (if he is in fact sent down) but his NHL career should start immediately IMO.

The question is whether he and the Flames would be better served playing those first 40 games in Calgary vs. Stockton.

Jankowski played 8 minutes in the NHL last season.

8 minutes.

You can rationalize with narratives about being a first year pro all you want but there is no way a guy as capable as he was last year should have played eight whole minutes in an 82 game season. He was probably better than Frolik, Brouwer, Stajan, Bouma, Lazar, or Ferland were LAST year.

Sending him down would be more of the same. Illogical. Irrational.

And frankly it would be egg in the face on the loyalty he showed when he signed with a team that refused to sign him after his strong third year in the NCAA.

and the answer to that is 'No, the Flames are not better served by having Jankowski sent to Stockton".

He was the player who exceeded expectations in camp. He came in great shape and forced himself onto the roster.

The Flames send all the wrong messages by cutting Jankowski. Instead of saying "come earn your spot on the team. We're prepared to make space for you if you force us to" they send a message which enables overpriced veterans to rest on their laurels and feel no upward pressure.

Treliving needs to create a list and make a move. that list starts with Stajan and Brouwer.

IF this is actually true, I'd like to see all those posters that argued that we somehow graduate prospects properly eat crow.

But meh, I literally can't imagine a situation where this is true, even in Treliving's messed up mind when it comes to younger guys (eg. Gilles and Andersson have shown WAY more than Lack and Bartkowski/Kulak), so my pitchfork isn't quite out yet.

I would like to see Stajan and Brouwer waived, sent down or traded.
If management sees so much in Lazar than give him his shot.

I dont see Freddie being sent down as he will just ride the pine and be Dougies Maid.. which is the only reason hes around imo.

If only there was some way the organization could communicate directly with Jankowski, instead of forcing him to read the tea leaves and try to interpret what its roster decisions mean.

Frolik? Might want to settle down a little. You like Jankowski and think he could have done well last year, but you don't know that for sure and listing Frolik who had 17 goals and 44 points while playing a good two-way game and loads of PK time.. just need to settle down.

No. I only highlighted the two most egregious gaffes of your post, but he wasn't better than Brouwer either. Or Stajan.

He had a great season in the AHL. But he wasn't yet an NHLer. He has shown in camp that he is now an NHLer. But making up crap like that does not help your argument.

Better than Ferland and Frolik? GTFO here with that. Lazar barely played for us so I'm not even sure why he's included.

Kid played 8 games. He's a raw rookie. Injuries, trades or demotions should see him play a bunch.

No such thing as too much AHL experience.

He may have earned a shot but Tre and GG aren't morons. They'll have explained to him that contracts and experience mean he's gonna have to get a bit more seasoned in the A. I doubt he's fuming and asking for a trade. Hopefully working hard to excel when he's put in the lineup sooner than later.

I do think we need to temper the value out of a good ahl season. For example, Brouwer once potted 41 goals in 66 games as a 21 year old. Janko had a great season, but frolik has been playing a really valuable brand of two way hockey in the NHL for quite awhile. That's not something to take for granted without seeing what his competitor can do beyond the ahl.

Frolik was part of one of the best lines in hockey last year. Not sure he should be included on that list he was a solid 2 way player.

Yes. It was Gulutzan speaking about Bennett.

“Right now, he’s finding his way. If we have to put him on the wing at some time, we would, but we’re trying to develop him. He’s going to be a good two-way centre. He is already. He’s been able to hold his own both ways, so I’d rather be able to move a centre to wing at some point than try to make him a winger and then move him back to the centre position.”

I don't understand this at all. What do the Flames coaches see that CP posters don't? Did Jankowski tail off when matched against veteran NHLers? ie make his positive impression against guys that have been sent to the AHL? Would they panic if he is caught on the ice against a top line?

If Jankowski actually is sent down he should be put on the wing to learn a spot that the Flames need and play PK all the time. The Flames tried Monahan as a PK in the preseason and he was substandard. Stajan makes the squad as a PK ahead of Jankowski???

All of the lesser players that are being mentioned are not playing centre.

Players that will get more ice time this season Bennett up from 15, Ferland up from 12 Tkachuk up from 14

Withe the addition of Jagr (17 min/game) the Flames 4th line actually is going to get minimal minutes.

Just looking for some reason
