So while I want more personality in the game and think PK's great for it, I also don't begrudge Scott his views. He came by them honestly.
"don't showboat" = "he's a piece of garbage"?? maybe Scott got rocked in the face a few too many times to communicate his views properly, but his quote wasn't exactly the pinnacle of old time hockey reservedness and respect either.

Scott wouldn't have had a job in this league if he didn't have star players to protect. Subban is one of those, genius. Good on PK for taking the high road (as usual).

I can't believe some people thought it was a good story that Scott got voted into the all star game and the players gifted him the MVP (good on them I guess, it was kinda like the Flames losing to the Townsend Tigers year after year)

The entire thing was a farce...he isn't even an NHL player let alone an all star. His opinion on another player has about as much merit as mine or yours

It was an awesome story, don't get all pouty about it two years later, lol. It was the only reason myself and many others watched.

I mean what else does the All Star game offer? It's low energy, silly hockey, the John Scott storyline was a little step up from that and most people enjoyed it.

He was an AHL player that "fans" voted in as a joke

he was basically voted worst player in the NHL...great story. People tried to make a joke of the league and in the end they just made more money from simpletons buying jerseys and eating it all up ect.

anyway the point wasn't to bring up this debate again...they guy doesn't even play hockey anymore and when he did he was one of the worst players to ever play in the league...why is his opinion even relevant at all

I agree. It was an awesome story that added a terrific human element to the 2016 ASG. Scott's entry into the game was idiotic, but it all turned out extremely well, and provided for the League a shot of much needed and appreciated positive PR.

The good story of Scott at the ASG should not be impugned on the basis of his fairly idiotic comments now regarding PK Subban. Having said that, it is disappointing that he chose to clarify beyond recognizing what a tremendous asset Subban is for the League, or minimally just declining to comment. Scott should have left well enough alone and rested on his legacy that was gifted at the 2016 ASG.

I hope this final series doesn't tarnish what has been a fantastic postseason of hockey. Nashville still has a chance to get back into this as the Ducks looked down and out against the Oilers after losing the first two games in their barn as the tide eventually turned in that series.

It was a good and fun story. Scott handled it with grace too.

It's too bad he didn't have the presence of mind to keep his yap shut about an actual super star. Sullied his rep by coming across as someone grasping at straws trying to remain relevant in the hockey world.

You had your swan song, now go away.

The Preds can come back.

But it will turn on what's happening between Pekka Rinne's ears. So far, he's completely choked.

It always comes down to goaltending.

The quotes were made years ago, long before the whole All Star thing.

He has gone away. It's not his fault someone pulled up some old quotes years later.

No he didn't. He should have said thanks to the fans for voting him in but didn't want to be a part of the joke any longer and declined to attend the game. That would have been handling it with grace. Attending an all star game where he didn't belong was simply contributing to the mockery of the league which employs him.

I think that the Pens are too well coached, too deep, too experienced and too well lead to let the Preds back in the game.

I have an expectation that the Preds will win a close game three, then the Pens will kick their teeth in

The NHL allowed the fans to choose a player and they did. Under those circumstances, he very much *did* belong, and it turned what is normally a dull event into a great human story piece. Scott even played very well and had some great snipes to underline the sentiment behind the story.

Fans chose him for one and only one reason and that was to mock the event. They took advantage of the league leaving the selection process open for fans to pick players they believe were deserving of all star status. Nobody voting truly believed Scott was deserving. He didn't belong there on merit alone. Explain to me this "great human piece story" because all I see Scott as was a tool that fans (I use that term lightly as I don't understand why a fan of the league would like to stick it to them) used to mock the event. He actually went along with it which made things worse as it's like he didn't' understand he was part of the joke and he was selected only because he wasn't good at hockey and not because he was good at it.
