Im really surprised so many here dont want to play the Oilers.

There is NOTHING like a real BOA in this city...nothing.

Beyond that however, is that the Flames match up against Edmonton MUCH better than the Ducks.

Put the Backlund line out against McJesus as much as possible and hope they keep them in check. Calgary is way deeper after that matchup and can do their damage that way.

Better defensively if the forwards are engaging as they are supposed to.

Goaltending is a wash as both guys have been really good.

Bring on the BOA...nothing better in the sport if/when it happens.

I think it's because a loss to the Ducks would be easier to take than the Oilers.

I felt the same way a couple of years ago playing the Canucks. I knew the Flames had a good chance to win but the thought of them losing was disgusting.

Maybe not, but there's two things that are even better:
1) That garbage team not even in the playoffs.
2) Their garbage fans not in the dome.

One quick example.

Place is known as an echochamber where everyone who doesn't conform with the group think is chewed out.

But there's no examples of that here.....

Its a great forum, easily the best for Calgary-centric off topic discussion. Plenty of issues and validity in those sentiments though.
Seems like you'd fit in a lot better on that board. Why don't you do us all a big favour and just stick to beyond.ca. Your schtick has worn thin here, probably best to move on.

I can't wait to go to Game 3 of this series, either way. Never been to a playoff game before. Hoping for the Oilers, but Game 3s at home against the Ducks have gone well in recent years...

Wow... if that thread is actually representative of the Beyond community, I want nothing to do with them after reading that drivel.

Why so much worry about losing to the Greasers?? Ain't gonna happen.

The effect on the C of Red at the Saddledome will take a hit, though. I see some grubby sweatpants despoiling the glorious monochromatic motif.

If the Oilers don't lose out in the first round then it's going to be unbearable for years to come, no matter who they beat. We are either going to hear about how they came from nowhere on the shoulders of McDavid and Talbot to become a powerhouse and perennial cup contender for years... regardless of who they beat, Flames or not.

Another thing is, as a Flames fan, get used to it.. there's no denying that the Oilers are trending upwards and if you're already not wanting to play the Oilers cause of the potential ridicule, then the next decade of hockey is going to be really tough for you.

Just play them and hopefully beat them while they are still fragile, cause all indicators are is that they won't necessarily be that way for ever.

The losses the Flames have to the Oilers this year like it was a completely different team that the Oil played. The Flames are much more of a unit and battle tested.

Have the Backlund line on duty for the McDavid line, maybe McDavid eats and elbow from Tkachuck and that hopefully frees up the Gaudreau or Bennett line.

Hopefully Brouwer finds his jam too as I feel he's the answer for Lucic, Engalland the answer for Maroon and then hit everything and kick anyone she ass if they slash Johnny.

After so many years of the Flames choking in the first round when they were suppose to win I know that nothing is guaranteed.

Really?

I dont think so.

I think the book is out on the Oilers, they had the League's most favourable schedule and most brittle lineup. Sorry, but you can only play McDavid 20+ minutes a night and Talbot 74 games a year for a limited time only.

For the grease this is as good as it gets.

I would rather have whats considered the tougher match up. Beat the Ducks and the Flames to a man will be determined to go all the way.

There's some good discussion over there, and there's some painfully stupid BS. Overall a decent site, but not one that should be calling out CP that's for sure. Hilarious to me that some posters vent about this site yet their contribution overall isn't anything to write home about. The arrogance of some people annoys the hell out of me sometimes.

Besides Lucic, Maroon and Russell the Oilers have next to nothing in terms of playoff experience. The Flames on the other hand, only have Tkachuk without playoff experience.

We shall see...what kind of a team are they gonna ice with McDavid and Lucic earning 19M plus in two seasons. I honestly think the Oilers might have a two year window

No. Nothing sweeter than beating them in playoffs.

#2 - I give you this. Never minded their fans in Rexall. The ones who come out in Calgary are junk.
