Thought you were serious. Then thought it was a joke, but seems way too direct to be funny. So I'm actually back to thinking you're serious.
No deal is being built around Wideman, he is a dump and nothing more.

No, white.
I could see the leafs taking a chance on Wideman but I think they only thing they'd be willing to give up for him would be an autographed pair of those Mike Babcock socks you got for free in a case of coors light.

Maybe the Pens can use some depth now that Daley is out long term.
Not the same player, but could do something similar, like with Schultz last year.

Pinder said he heard the Pens were an option but with the Hainsey deal he thought it is now less likely

I much prefer people never use green text. It is usually obvious when someone isn't serious, and it makes it much more funny when people (even myself) don't catch on and look foolish.

i feel like getting another team to take Wideman is going to cost us. So Wideman plus a prospect in return for a worse off prospect or a draft pick. I don't see how Wideman is worth anything at this point.

Before the Flames give anything to "get rid" of Wideman. They would most likely bench him for the remainder of the season. It's not like he's signed to a multi-year deal.

Rutherford said in the next 24 hours they'll determine a final answer on whether to add another D man into the mix.

If the flames cover a significant portion of his salary, then I could see him being useful to a contender with cap issues and injury problems. PIT is the first one, there might be others.
I don't think PIT will mind giving up a pick to solidify their chance to defend.
Wideman is a legit seasoned D-man. A cheap cap hit + change of scenery + playing for his career might be compelling combination for some teams.
In fact, I bet the trade is already made in principle pending another week of salary being off the books (that's why he is sitting). My guess is Wideman will be one of the first trades announced on deadline day.

Heh, watch Wideman go to the Pens and then go all Justin Schultz. Could happen I guess.

Wideman's Achilles heel is his foot speed - it would really stand out on a team like the Penguins.

Well if we are still looking to add at the deadline shedding his salary for the rest of the year could help us add one of those pieces. Guess it depends who they are looking to acquire.

He could go to the Penguins and turn into Bobby Orr for all I care as things have got to the point where it's just not working out here for both parties and trading him is addition by subtraction.

The only caveat to that would be if the Flames needed the cap space to make another deal (and Wideman won't waive to go to that team to offset salary).

I don't buy it, he is sitting because he sucks and was costing the team every single game

I tend to believe they want to get both of the newly acquired defensemen as much action as possible in the event Wideman is moved. If Treliving can't find a desperate GM and Wideman remains on the roster post-deadline I would expect him to draw back in the lineup whenever the Flames have a poor defensive effort.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a "down to the wire" type of thing where Treliving has some sort of super awesome trade in the works that hinges on moving Wideman's salary.
