Gaudreau is still getting a bunch of opportunities. They mentioned in the telecast that coaching staff sat down with him and went through the last bunch of games to show him the opportunities are there and he just needs to keep at it.

I haven't been too worried about Gaudreau. He's actually making opportunities the last few games rather than the previous ones before that. He'll eventually bury some, and he is working at it.

Yeah, not sure where this concern over Gaudreau (from last night) is from.

He was quick, made smart plays, avoided contact and was back checking. Just didn't score. Looked fine to me. Certainly when compared to the game on Monday.

I wonder if Engelland with Brodie taking so long wasn't part of the plan. It's hard to play Gio 28 mins for 82 games and hopefully playoffs. Now that we are past the bye week and 24 games left with 1 back to back games if they plan isn't to play the top 4 way more now

#Flames Brian Elliott improves to 5-0-0 with a 1.20 GAA & .952 SV% in his last 5 home starts.
Should just play Elliott at home and Johnson on the road since that's where both seem to excel.

I would love to watch Tkachuk on the top line, especially with Johnny, but you just can't split up that 3M line even though I would love to see if it would work. I see no reason on why Tkachuk can't play RW. You can even switch Johhny to the RW as well. Tkachuk just seems like he can play with anyone, he's that good.

The way Tkachuck plays along the boards for a 19 year old player who really isn't that big, just blows my mind. His ability to corral the puck on that second goal on the rim around as he's moving in the same direction that the puck's going was a pretty slick move.

Hopefully Elliot can find the form he had last night and play that way down the stretch.

I would anticipate that Brett Kulak will be assigned to the AHL any minute now...

Someone in /hockey posted this. Talks about Matthews in the first half and Johnny and his long shifts in the second

Johnny should really be playing with Backlund and Frolik. He needs to play with other people who can also handle the puck. A huge part of Johnny's game involves disappearing in coverage and taking advantage of the fact that he's tiny enough to vanish on the ice. He can't do that if he's always carrying the puck.

If a defender loses Gaudreau, he's off balance. When he's off balance, Johnny's moves work. When Gaudreau skates at a defender for thirty feet and tries a predictable deke, every D in the league is going to break that up.

Meanwhile, Monahan needs someone who can play down low with the puck. I think he and Matthew would work great together.

Elliott deserved a shutout with that performance. Not even Kipper in his prime could deal with the Kulak-Wideman gong show.

Kipper had David Hale and Anders Eriksson to deal with.

I don't agree with this.

Putting Tkachuk on Backlund's line was a brilliant move and he has learned a great deal.

But the fact is that he is now one of the smartest wingers on the team and he simply doesn't need to be with them any more. He could help Bennett immensely. Or he could play RW with Johnny and Monahan.

And maybe it's time for someone else to gain from the experience of playing with Backlund and Frolik.

Not just movement without the puck, but somebody else who has the passing sense to thread through traffic or anticipate some of the passes to/from Gaudreau. When you look at Hudler and Gaudreau, the puck would be constantly flying all over the place.

No, she has some really interesting views on the Middle East, and she's won a lot of fans.
