Haven't been able to watch a lot of full games this season because of 2 1/2 year old nutball running around everywhere but we both enjoyed tonight's game/YouTube play-doh videos immensely.

Poor Jets fan. Tags for giant image. Not sure how to resize imgur.

Spoiler!

He wasn't hanging his head in shame he was hanging his head in drunk. He was comatose for 2 periods. Worse was his buddy left after 2 and he was on his own. He was like that after the game. By himself in an empty section.

Was such a great game. We had a lot of chances in the first but we kept shooting it in the crest of Hutchinson. You could tell it was going to be a bad night for the Jets with how open they were playing and how open they left the middle of the ice.

Gaudreau is back. He was a magician with the puck and looked like the Gaudreau of last year and you can tell the beginning of the year was hard on him. He wasn't happy but now he looks to be having fun again and it really shows. I know people were rough on me when I mentioned him not celebrating goals in the beginning of the year as much as he always has but look at the last 4 games and the way he celebrated. Was like a kid in the candy store.

I liked every single players game aside from Brodie. He looked real bad tonight and the only player to finish a - player. Johnson bailed him out a few times just on one shift with 3 turnovers. He really needs to get his act together. I hope he gets to play the side he wants but he still can't turn the puck over as many times as he did tonight.

that was a dominant game for the flames. it's been a while since they've dictated a game like that. i also have confidence that they will learn from that late goal. hamilton is going to our #1 defenseman. strong tonight everywhere on the ice

I can't believe that I am starting to believe again. Now lower the lights and queue the soft music. It's bed time.

Found the second and third period at a pub in Maui and it was a hell of a game. Love this team right now. Dougie has been unreal as of late

Seeing as how they were Jets fans, they probably had just met on Craigslist an hour before the game.

There probably wasn't much emotional investment in the relationship.

The Flames are playing the way I have been hoping they would play since the rebuild started. Excellent defense with a good transition game. If the other team screws up, the Flames are right there to pounce.

Question of the day:

What is the Flames first line? Specifically, which line should play the most minutes?

GG has some options based on game situations (I.e. Up a goal, down a goal, toughness and size, defence, offence, speed).

There might not actually be a right answer to my question.

By no means do I think this team is a cup contender, but I think this team nearly has Stanley Cup depth.

Once we see how the Expansion draft plays out, are able to drop off some contracts that aren't so great, and round out the defence, this team is BUILT.

I am saying right now that there is no reason why the Flames shouldn't be a favourite for the cup in 2018.

Great game. Flames came out hard, and I thought that Winnipeg started really pushing back, but Calgary didn't let up and just started scoring goals.

I love how Gulutzan has this team working on the forecheck. I haven't seen a forecheck this good since... probably Darryl Sutter coaching. I remember Brent Sutter started to get an aggressive forecheck going for a bit, but it didn't last long (don't think the Flames at that time had the legs to run it).

Remember last month when this team looked slow? This team is playing with speed now. I was cringing at how slow they looked to start, but this team can compete with any team in the NHL in terms of speed now.

Funny thing I noticed - At the start of the game, they mentioned Laine got moved down to the 2nd line because he wasn't strong enough defensively, and the moved Wheeler up into his spot alongside Scheifele and Ehlers. That entire line goes -3, while Laine (with exactly 59 seconds less TOI less than Wheeler) finishes the night even. I just thought that was kind of funny (though Laine does have a lot of work to do on his defensive game).

I didn't think I would like Hathaway this much. He is really Niemennen. He really gets under everyone's skin, and it isn't like he is some talentless plug out there either. Man, this Flames team is looking like a polished playoff-ready team, and I don't think I have said this about them for a good 8 or 9 years (even the years they made the playoffs). They are just doing so many things right.

Feel bad for Johnson - he earned that shutout. Terrible overconfident PK attacking like that (though good job by Wideman in getting back), and then that last fluke goal.

That forecheck... I love it.
