i agree that you sit back inevitably when you have a 3-0 lead but I was a bit frustrated watching us in our own end and sometimes we get control of the puck and just dont get it out of our zone. A lot of the Leafs chances seem to have come after we had a chance to clear the zone. Heck Icing the puck is better then getting it stopped at the blueline time after time

I noticed that too. Against a better team than the Leaves, that's a recipe for a loss.
I was at the greasers leafs game on Tuesday night (I have already called Amnesty International about the cruel and unusual punishment); I got to boo everyone!
One difference between the two games seemed to be that the leafs fans in Edmonton were never quiet; their team had the lead and the noise was constant from them. In Calgary, the early goals seemed to take the Leaf fans out of the game (watching on TV).
I thought that both Flames and Leafs looked a bit tired from some of the mental mistakes, and that is to be expected IMO. Flames road trip was difficult, and the Leafs are a young team.
Anyways, Go Flames Go!

Hopefully this win turns things around at home for Calgary. With games against Wild (revenge time) and Ducks, if the flames continue their roll the confidence boost will be huge.

It is frustrating for sure, but lately, i'm hoping that it has more to do with fatigue than anything.
You have to remember this was a 3rd game in 4 nights for the Flames after going across the continent after 6 games in 9 nights. The team still looks a bit gassed and dumb mistakes like not making simple clears are usually the result of being tired.
We heard all about the back to back situation the Leafs had to "endure" last night, but really, the Flames had it much worse I think in terms of travel.

The PP was frustrating to watch again. I don't know why there are so many unforced zone losses. Forward passes to back to the point and either the defenseman flubs it, or worse it is passed too far away to keep in. It really stood out to me how well Toronto was able to maintain the zone and use the defensemen where Calgary would cycle low then end up throwing it out themselves. Is it execution? Is it drawn up with bad point positioning? I don't know but watching the Flames constantly toss the puck back to Johnson themselves was infuriating.

I found myself yelling at the TV when the Flames would do their terrible attempts at zone entry.
So predictable.
Cameron: "Brods, you skate really fast up the middle of the ice. Then drop pass. Then go back and pick up the puck from behind our net and try again."
Honestly. What the hell is this garbage? Zero creativity. Poor puck movement. Low quality shot attempts.
They need to simplify their zone entries. Attack with speed as a unit, force the defense to turn, just like how they do it 5v5.
Then once they are set up, start passing the puck fast. On the stick, off the stick. Force aggressive teams to chase, tire themselves out, and open up lanes.

Now that Versteeg is proving to be a nice complimentary player and not a pylon, I feel more confident about him riding shotgun with Monahan and Gaudreau.
I kept seeing bozak out there being fiesty and confused him for Kadri.
Kadri is a puke.
Me too. 42 vs 43. Bozak looked much better I thought.
So happy for the Flames fans that we managed a shutout. Kept the leafs fans firmly in their seats.

From HFBoard oiler fan, in analyzing MacT's management:
O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
I actually think Dennis Wideman is starting to play smart hockey and covering up his skating liability. There are going to be times when he gets burned, but he is not anywhere near as bad as many make him out to be on here.
I am super impressed with Dougie Hamilton of late. He has been our best d-man these last 10 games at least.
Jokipakka made a great play getting back and pushing Marner's stick to stop the 2-0, they score there and it's a nail biting finish.
What more can you say about Chad Johnson? The guy is not flashy, just sound and calm in net.
Now, if we can get some offense going from Brodie, Monahan, Giordano and Gaudreau when he is back, this team is going to make some noise and easily make the playoffs. I think they figured out what it is that Gulutzen wants them to do. Now just find a way to do that, but add in the offense.
