13 had a good game. But he's slowed down when you put a fire hydrant (#39) with him and 23. To make matters worst when you give a fire hydrant first line minutes typically the hydrant will make errors in crucial situations such as a penalty in a tied game in 3rd period. Dallas scores and who is on the ice first shift after that goal? Yes The fire hydrant. But wait..... Glue Gun wasn't done there; he actually put 39 on the last chance pp. in a last ditch effort you have to load the deck and use Brouwer. Enough with Glue Guns pet already! This is not NHL coaching!!!!

Damn Chiasson. He sure tries hard. The effort is there no doubt. But he's just not good at all, plus his hockey IQ is sooooo non-existent.

Will take a 42-25-0 record now, in order to reach 95pts.

Not happening.

Chiasson is a good role player on 3rd or 4th line but this coach is forcing him into a position to fail. When Bouma went down Chiasson or F. Hamilton should have shifted into the Bouma role. Then bring up a kid with skill from farm to play on top line.

Butbut the Pacific sucks this year, it might only take 90 pts! No, we suck, and we should just tank now. We are the new Oilaz.

No, Flames are the old Oilers; new Oilers are good!
For whatever reason I still feel that this team will get it together. I'm giving them until the 20-game mark.

Yep and I understand in this cap era most teams don't have three superstars on a line, and lots of teams with two stars have a role player on their top line; but no top line has stuck with a role player that's not working as long as us. Some perspective:

Pittsburgh : Crosby, Hornqvist and one of Sheary, Wilson, Hagelin
Tampa Bay: Stamkos, Kucherov and one of Palat, Killorn, Namestikov
Washigton: Ovi, Backstrom and Williams or Oshie
Chicago: Toews, Kane and Panik or Schmaltz
Edmonton: McDavid, Eberle and Lucic or Maroon
San Jose: Pavleski, Thornton and one of Ward, Hertl, Boedker

Stop trying to hammer that peg in the hole and switch it up if it's not working

Christmas? This season is done now. Even the most optimistic Flames fan can't argue that.

This. Couldn't figure out why GG wouldn't pull Elliott. Didn't make any sense to me. They had the PP; why not go 6-on-4?

Watched the game silently, listening to Leonard Cohen.

Didn't look overly bad, but a whole lot of lucky bobbles in their own end which turned into decent enough breakouts. Total accident though.

PP was hopeless pretty much, but they did have a bit of crappy puck luck.

OTOH, too many penalties in the offensive zone. I knew when Chiasson got tagged the second time that was it and the Stars would score. They'd been too close for comfort before, so it was only a matter of time.

Elliott did not look comfortable. Dunno if Sigalet's trying to get him to play some "style" that's not his or what - but it's not working.

Kulak and Engelland again their best defensemen.

They may not face the highest quality competition, but they've been fantastic

Could they sub Kulak in for Brodie on the PP? Might as well try; he's been much better at moving/controlling the puck 5-on-5

Chose not to watch tonight. Felt like the safe choice and it was.

I sure hope this team gives me reasons to tune in again before next month, by which time the season will be beyond salvaging.

Happy to see Johnny with 2g's. Too bad the rest of the team didn't appear on the same page. The first goal against was absolutely horrendous. Guys falling over each other in our own zone then tossing the puck up the middle. Like something out of a comedy blooper show. Glad I saved myself the stress.

It's a shame Treliving is too weak to do the only sensible move at this point: canning/replacing Dave Cameron. Won't be until it's too late. Because, uh..... what's the word? Process.

Just want to add that the whole Kulak story is awesome. At least some bright spots on an individual level to feel good about. He has great offensive instincts and doesn't appear to be a liability defensively. Maybe a bit of chemistry with Johnny going there?

Someone better fire Sigalet's sorry ass here pretty soon too. Has any goaltender looked good for the Flames since they hired this clown?

More random thoughts...

For the love of all that is good, punt Chaisson from the top line. Please.

Saw enough of Vey, no thanks. Bring up someone else

Gaudreau looked dangerous all game. Monahan is starting to skate better

Need way more from Gio. Brodie still looks off. Hamilton's defensive awareness is often lacking

And now I must slumber

Beside the obvious disappointment in another lost season, I'm just beyond annoyed this is happening in a crap draft year.

Reading HF Oilers Around the League thread is really depressing...because it's all true.
