I'm actually excited with what Tkachuk brings to the team. Adds a much needed element.

He stood out in the first two game in the Young-stars Tourney, but was just okay in the third.

I'm terrible at talent evaluation, but it seemed like he was trying too many things that didn't pan out.

I should rephrase too. He looked like a good player, but not like he would fit in the NHL this year

After seeing him live twice (both times he scored the GWG) the only reasons I can see for keeping him off the team would have nothing to do with on ice performance. He has significantly outplayed guys like Higgins and Vey. Keep him on the roster... by the end of the season he will be a key player.

Tonight was a stellar performance. Heads up play, 4-5 really above average scoring attempts. Brouwer was asleep for the feeds.

Scored the two goals. He gets a minimum of 9 games for sure. Then evaluate.

Loves going to the dirty spots and is extremely intelligent.

If Monahan draws in into the next game, it'll be an interesting experiment to pair them.

It was my first time seeing him play tonight... That's a guy with great hockey sense, really good hands, and more grit than the entire 2015-16 team. He's staying for the season.

Definitely makes the team and sticks for season. Leading scorer in pre-season. Those two goals were snipers goals tonite. He is an equal contributor on his line already.

Did not see any terrible defensive plays. Cannot imagine a better place for him to learn (and learn fast) playing with Bennett/Brouwer. OHL makes no sense.

It will be interesting to see if he gets 2nd PP time. I think he does.

I will boldly predict a 20-20 = 40 point rookie season on that line.

It will be very interesting to see how he does in rookie scoring race especially compared to Matthews and Laine.

Thank-you Hiller!

Is it just me, or have the Flames landed a top 3 player in 4 of the last 6 drafts? Good times ahead...

The most tired cliche in sports is "try and get better everyday." Tkachuk seems to be doing just that.

I think having been around the game so long, he just seems comfortable and ready (physically, mentally) to make the jump. Lots of young players just aren't mature enough or in the right head space to fit in at the highest level. Tkachuk just seems made to do this.

Tkachuk/Bennet/Brouwer is just such a bad-ass line. Lots of 'tude. Brings the skill.

BAD ASS.

I'm liking it.

That was a great game for him. Easily the best player on the ice.

Guys, for your reference.

To "compliment" means to praise. To "complement" means to enhance or complete. "Complementary" means combining in a way that enhances. "Complimentary" means free.

"Complementary" is what Tkachuk is.

"Complimentary" describes a continental breakfast at a Best Western.

I'm excited to watch Chucky, Bam Bennett and the smash bros line. Will be interesting to see how they do once the season begins.

Hold your water people.

The Flames were playing their opening day defense. Gio-Brodie played half the game.

The Yotes were sitting their top-4 defense. Schenn and maybe Chychrun are the only guys that are likely to start the season in the NHL.

If exhibition games performance carried to the regular season Schremp would have just signed a big UFA contract somewhere.
