Lots of successful backups and a few successful starters spent some time down there.
The ECHL season is 72 games, so I'd say the majority of these guys played one season or less down there. It's not the end of the world if MacDonald goes to the ECHL, but he'd have to really prove himself and beat out Rittich (or whoever the AHL backup is) this year or next to follow the same track as the above guys.
But who knows. He's still young.
