The NHL really needs to institute some restrictions on these ceremonies. They don't need to be anywhere that long. Less is more.
And of course the Oilers are leading the way in this idiocy.

Look, to close a building, at the end of the game, fine. But to open a new building, for an hour? That's insanity.

You know how there are some people out there who exude a sense of taste and class with that subtle confidence only the truly wealthy have? The ones who don't care about shouting to the world that they have money, yet present themselves with that impeccable style that instantly signals that they are well off?
Katz is not one of those people. He always looks like a guy that just won the lottery, went out and bought a neon green Lambo, and just underwent plastic surgery to try to make himself look 20 years younger to the college chicks he's trying to pick up.

Looking for Bennett to consistently win the matchup against the much talked about player from Edmonton.

Best Option to Watch Online this Season?
I would like to be able to watch most if not all of the Calgary Flames games this season online. I live in the US right now and was wondering if there is someone else on the board in the US that pays online subscription that can recommend the best option, and whether or not it's worth it if you can only see a limited number of flames games.

I have directv with the hockey package. Plenty of games. Pretty much all of them. Sometimes have to settle for the home team feed but I care about the game and no overly concerned with commentators.
Very happy seven years in a row..
I enjoy it. Hope it helps

I guess the oilers need something to celebrate this season.. Why not be 45 minutes of the 80's and a new arena?

I'm sitting here cringing at the thought of a long ceremony with (PA Announcer) Mark Lewis's weird, whiny voice announcing everything...but he retired!
Now the question is, is the new guy worse?

That Darryl Katz picture looks like he gave his plastic surgeon a million dollars and said "make me look like Gretzky".

The Flames would never do this sort of thing. For a new building? Maybe 10 minutes of videos and a ribbon cutting with alumni or some crap. It's actually somewhat inconsiderate of families in attendance whose kids will not understand nor care for what's going on and need to be told to wait through apparently 55 minutes of nonsense, then pushing the game unordinarily late on what is a week night. But the Oil seizing an opportunity to pat themselves on the back supercedes any sort of sensibility or consideration of even their own fans, apparently.

Yep and even when a team isn't introducing a new building, it seems Montreal and Toronto don't drop the puck until 25 minutes past their scheduled time every Saturday.
If the game is scheduled for 7:05 then the puck should be dropped no later than 5 minutes after the start time.

Which then results in their games cutting into the airtime for western Canadian teams games..
