Tkachuk is probably the most NHL ready prospect we've drafted in my 20 years of following the team/draft
Shinkaruk is a long shot, I agree
While I agree with most of your statement I just don't see Ferland as anything but a bottom 6 forward. Here's hoping Tkachuk makes the jump. I guess it's also a good thing cause it opens a door at training camp.

^ good point.
Probably little surprise Colborne signed shortly after Brouwer.
Simply no spot for him after that.

One step back, one (expensive) step forward.

They replaced Colbornes one year of offence with a guy who has had the same offence production for many years. Add in that Brouwer uses his size and body a hell of a lot more and i don't see the resemblance of the 2. Colborne is a 3rd line winger, Brouwer has been playing 2nd line winger on some pretty good teams.

Im glad we moved on from him, the guy just did not use his size and we replaced him with someone who does.

The one thing i got out of this signing, is that i don't think any of the players that i hoped could be traded from the flames, to make cap room, are tradeable.
They really aren't, at least not yet. We also have to be patient, this is at least another year away to being able to address all our needs. I know people want to fill all the holes this year and get frustrated with contracts that might prevent that, but patience is key. There actually is no rush to fix things right away, they need to take their time and be smart.

Will miss him in the shootout -- hope he continues to develop now that Colorado is out of the division.

Brouwer is so much better defensively.

Brouwer is much much grittier.

I have no doubt that Brouwer will get more points than Joe had this year if he gets the same prime icetime that Colborne was handed last season.

So glad I dont have to watch Colborne circling the net until he gives the puck away in a Flames jersey anymore.

Good luck Joe.
He wouldn't play a physical game and that was probably a big reason BT didn't qualify Joe. Brouwer and Chaisson will fill that void.

I'm pretty sad about this.

That being sad, I will give Brouwer and Chaisson the chance to make me forget about Colborne.

Colborne is a classy guy and I'm surprised he signed for only $2.5/yr, but didn't want him on the team. Didn't like his style of play, very frustrating to watch.

At the deadline. I hope it wasn't his play at the end of the season that made the Flames decide to move on from him. I for one don't believe he was finished developing and at $2.5 per, looks god on the bottom 6.

I think the Avalanche made off like bandits on this signing. Very good value and little term.

Flames must not want him. 2.5 is cheap. Before they thought he could get up to 3.9 mill
