On Hockeydb it says he is 5'10 but 185lbs. That's a pretty decent ratio especially at his age. It's not like he's 90 pounds soaking wet like when the Oilers forced Nugget-Hopkins into the NHL way too early. Hopefully size won't be THAT much of an issue.

Brodie is listed as 6'1 182 lbs and to me is a pretty good comparable for Fox. If anything, being 3 inches shorter, Fox is a stockier/thicker version than Brodie and may add another 7-10 lbs over the next 2 years at college especially if grows maybe another inch or so.
He's a fleet of foot dman at the end of the day and can easily play at a higher level like the NHL/AHL at the size he's currently at.

That a bit of a rosy dismissal of height difference. When you watch guys like Fox, Kylington and other shorter D-men, they are only a couple inches shorter than the rest and are at a very clear disadvantage in terms of reach and making up ground. Of course the disadvantage can be made up with amazing skill and speed, but they face a tougher challenge to making the NHL, there is no doubt of that.

guys like Jared Spurgeon, Tyson Barrie, Ryan Ellis, Andy Greene, Sami Vatanen, Torey Krug and Kris Russell all play 21+ minutes per game this season, and Fox has similar or even greater size than those guys. 10 years ago his size could have been an issue, but today, it doesn't seem like a big problem. Gio is listed at 6'0 and 198, I think Fox could end up similar.

Not dismissing at all and if he manages to grow 1 or 2 more inches it brings him to 5'11 / 6 which isn't that bad. Add to that he will probably fill out to be 195/200 lbs and he won't be as undersized as some are making him out to be in 2 years time when he'll be ready to push for a spot on the big club.

Obviously Fox has a long way to go to ever put himself into that group but that's kinda my point, he still has time to fill out and there is a chance he adds inches to his current frame which isnt as undersized as some are making him out to be.

I hope he turns out as a good Flames asset. My problem with his size is that we're trying to get bigger and tougher on defence. When he's ready things could change though.

Fox had 1G/1A in Harvard's 3-0 win over Providence in their first game of the NCAA Tournament.
This brings his season total to 38 points in 33 games. Harvard has a maximum of 3 games remaining. That means Fox is now guaranteed to finish the season with a Pt/G average above 1.0.
The last time an 18 year-old defenceman scored at a pace greater than 1.0 Pt/G in NCAA Division I hockey was Brian Leetch, 30 years ago in 1986-87.
This is high praise from his coach, former NHLer, Ted Donato...

You've got to figure a lot of players that get into Harvard, Yale ect. want that degree. I would. I hope he does all 4 years than signs a 3 year entry level. This way he will be seasoned and man sized! Win win for the player and the Team.

Can always go back in the summer to get his degree like Johnny did. His stats would be incredible if he stayed all 4 years but I think he leaves in the next two years. We'll see though, he's friends with Parsons and Tkachuk so I'm sure they will do their best to convince him to sign after year three. Not really worried about him signing tho. Flames will have a very solid American contingent in the coming years, keep drafting them yanks.

If he continues to develop at this rate, staying 4 years in college is bad from a hockey development point of view.
If he builds off this season and has an even better season next year, he will have proven that he is too good for the NCAA. If that happens the best thing for him from a pure hockey development stance is to go pro rather than complete 4 years in the NCAA.
Of course there are other factors to his decision other than hockey, but at some point you need to move on rather than get complacent in a lesser league if it is too easy.

Ivy League schools don't give out athletic scholarships, so when he does turn pro, he's not leaving behind a big free-ride deal.
Not like that should matter to a guy who'll be signing a pretty good ELC.
