It can't be a sign and trade because he can't sign an extension until after July 1, but they'd definitely want to have a sense as to what he'd be asking for on an extension.

true  but Dougie was a young RFA with a lot of upside ... Bishop is 29 with some injury concerns and, as a very big goalie, some uncertainty when it comes to the new equipment rules. Throwing 6-7m per year at him for 5-7 years is pretty risky.
