Here's Galaxy91122's capture of the JFC and possibly the cause of Johnny's outrage:

Mentioned in game thread: was a Sens fan, not a Flames fan, and he was kicked out of the Dome for doing it.

I know what the ruling was but I think it was a load of horse####. Not all of him was outside the crease when Ryan made contact.

I am with you on the Matthews points part. I just cannot cheer for the Flames to lose so they will get a chance to win the Austin Matthews sweepstakes.
We are lacking a secondary scoring in this team. We cannot rely on Monahan and Gaudreau to score all the time or rely on defensemen like Brody, Gio or Hamilton to do the scoring. Not happy with Jones and even Ferland who's getting the minutes and not producing. I feel for Bennett having to play with wingers who cannot produce or even help him scores.

Here are the Flames' third and fourth line forwards by point per 60 minutes
Joe Colborne: 1.72
David Jones: 1.22
Markus Granlund: 1.16 (gone)
Michael Ferland: 1.09
Josh Jooris: 1.02
Matt Stajan: 0.88
Mason Raymond: 0.84
Brandon Bolig: 0.64
Lance Bouma: 0.45
Now here's Chicago's:
Dale Weise: 1.94 (new)
Teuvo Teravainen: 1.67
Tomas Fleischmann: 1.35 (new)
Dennis Rasmussen: 1.28
Richard Panik: 1.28
Andrew Desjardins: 0.68
Bryan Bickell: 0.54
Marcus Kruger: 0.14
It seems that one of the main differences in terms of forward production is that the third liner on Chicago have much more consistent production. Their third line forwards are 30 point guys, while ours are 10 point guys.
Luckily, if Treliving is smart with contracts, I think this could be relatively easy to solve over time.

It wasn't because he wws out of his crease.
The rule is regardless of if a goalie was in his crease or not who established postion on the ice first.
Ortio was deemed to make contact with Ryan first. Had he been oustide the paint and not reached out with his blocker hand first the call would have been interference . The referees decided Ortio initiated first contact.
It was not the right call regardless as they can not take into account he was reaching with the blocker for a shot that was blocked.
Had the shot not been blocked and Ortio was still reaching out with the Blocker in the same fashion and made contact with Ryan it would more then likely Ryan gets called for Interference or they just wave off the goal.
It was a questioanble call but under the current rules the right call from the book but not from a logical stand point.

Added cap hits to those players in your posts who are not just rentals.
Flames average $2.1M
Chicago average $1.3M
It adds up. If the Flames paid less for bottom end players they could afford to go after another top-end player.

Hc TPS says Hi
Finnish wiki.
Quote:

Ortio is TPS increased, but played in the period 2007-2008 TuTossa . He won TuTossa A young I Division Championship in Finland in 2008 and TPS A-Junior Championship silver in 2009.
|
English wiki.
Quote:
|
He appeared in 26 games in Finland's junior league in 2008–09 and recorded an 18–8 record with a 2.63 goals against average (GAA).[1] He made his first appearance with the Finnish national team, as he recorded three wins and one shutout to help the under-18 team win the bronze medal at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships.
|
You know who else struggled as a 3rd string goalie at 24 /25 in the Nhl but also led Hc TPS junior team to a finish chamionship and a silver as well when he was young .......Mikka Kippersuaff.
Im not saying that Ortio is the next Kipper but that are following almost exact paths in their careers. It would be terrible if the Flames made the same mistake San Jose did with out giving him a fair shake.

Those numbers also suggest Colborne is indeed quite good value and not someone we should be giving up 'just because' at this stage. He's a solid 3rd liner and it would be difficult to replace his production at his pricetag.

The problem is, there is no guarantee that worse now = better later
