Bouma is the real loser here because he's the one player of the three that is a player this team could easily move from. I wonder if we start hearing his name involved in trade rumours near draft time.

I have absolutely zero problem with this. Nobody is above the team. The Flames are desperate for their playoff lives and have been wildly inconsistent all season. Yet on the day before an important game three of the leaders on the team decide to arrive late to practice. That's not acceptable.
If I was in Hartley's position I would have done the exact same thing. You are responsible for your actions both on the ice and off. No accountability means you're going down the same road as Edmonton.
It sucks for the fans, myself included, but it is an important lesson to teach these guys moving forward.

I absolutely approve of them being scratched. Tells the players no one is above the team, not even the stars. If all three of them messed up and then only Bouma is disciplined then that looks awful for management. Yes these guys are young and deserve to have fun, but that should never compromise their responsibilities.

If true, I for one absolutely would LOVE the decision. Create a culture of discipline that nonsense will not be tolerated. What a message this shows to the other players (ie. Bennet, Brodie, and of course, Monahan and Gadreau) that no one is above the team; even the best players.
Sucks for the fans but in the long-term it'd be greatly beneficial.

Monahan, Gaudreau and Bouma obviously have run afoul of coach Bob Hartley for some reason. We'll see at game time what fallout is or isn't.

I'll take you up on that one. Teams take these things very seriously. As noted, Ovechkin already got benched for missing a meeting this year himself.
We aren't making the playoffs, most of us realize that. If Hartley is willing to face that reality, and is willing to stick his neck out to snap these guys back in line, then this is a call that should be made.
My skepticism of it is entirely due to wondering if the team is ready to throw in the towel. Absent that concern, this would be the right decision.

If the playoffs aren't a concern then why couldn't have they been benched for the Sharks game where the fans aren't going to suffer for it? If it was one of these guys okay, but this is pretty much 90% of the offense on this team.
