You never know. There could be some rule that they claim has always been there regarding players being voted in and changing conferences after the fact. Will be interesting to watch this unfold.

That about sums it up for me. Love watching the skills competition and seeing them goof around. The draft was amazingly hilarious. Hartnell telling Phaneuf to "suck it" during the game. Carey Price and his antics in the skills competition in 2012. Voracek and Gaudreau last year.

It's just awesome seeing the lighter side of their personalities. I'm not watching for the quality of the hockey. To do so and to judge the event upon that is, well, stupid.

Perfect solution. Domi slots in for the Pacific, and then Scott dresses for the Atlantic as an "extra" forward. That way he can take a few spins around the ice and then plant his butt on the bench before he gets embarrassed by the actual all-stars (not that they would try to show him up -- I just think he's that bad).

They could incite one this year with such a defined division (pun absolutely intended) between teams. Would he play for the Pacific team with a Montreal badge?

Would the Atlantic team have an extra player?

I think because it's Scott, a player that they likely didn't want going anyway, they'll push a rule through. And I don't think many people are going to be able to offer an objection to it besides the humour of Scott being there.

Had it been a legitimate All-Star traded, the decision would have been very interesting. I could see them still excluding that player and having another player added to the team they vacated. Hell, Crosby isn't even going to this game!

Yeah best solution is to just add a player from Phoenix - either Domi or OEL - to the Pacific division lineup.

If you add OEL then Scott stays on the pacific division team as an extra and OEL becomes the Phoenix representative.

If you add Domi then Scott can go play as an extra for the atlantic team, or for extra fun he plays a game for each of the divisions.

The only way they add OEL is they remove Gio.

They would likely just add Doan or Domi or someone.

Those are beautiful jerseys! If I could afford too, I'd buy a Gaudreau one. I actually really like them

Those jerseys look awesome. There have been some horrid all star jerseys in the past, these ones are not those. The lettering font and numbers look great.

I'm going to rush out and buy a John Scott one.

I'd be tempted but as far as I can tell they don't sell them with the Flames crest on the shoulder.

Roster changes as Ovechkin and Toews are "hurt".

per NHL rules Ovechkin and Toews are suspended for 1 game

Tim Wharnsby @TimWharnsby
Evgeny Kuznetsov replaces Alex Ovechkin. #Isles John Tavares replaces Ovechkin as Metro captain. James Neal replaces Jonathan Toews.

Also the NHL has sold out of John Scott All Star t-shirts.

Neal is having a decent season, and probably is one of few they could get on short notice.

Still, I await all the gnashing of teeth from a few people here about the league choosing to send another cheap shot artist. I'm sure it's coming.... any time now... For consistency and all...
