There's a typo there, with one of those Stajans being Backlund.
Looking at the raw numbers, Backlund was the most impressive on the night, with 56% success on 18 draws, and it's nice to see both him and Stajan (just) above 50% on the season.

Ask Kyle Quincey if Bennett was invisible (as sureloss posted, Quincey is out tonight courtesy of a hit from Bennett).

Like i said, i was well served by the good staff at the game haha, likely skewed my perception quite a bit. I remember thinking that 18 is pretty much automatic on the draw.

Luckily that is not the case and we can have heads up high for Sunday.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact opposite in the third period. By the 50 min mark it looked to me like one of those games in which win or lose, the team was set to take a step forward. The players know when they play well, and last night the Flames played great.

Is interference and contact to the head (albeit likely accidental) really a shining positive? I'm not sure

I didn't like the Colborne hit or the Bennett hit.

Especially considering the Flames are the 4th worst faceoff team in the NHL

Not saying that it is, but at least it shows that he's getting himself engaged in the play.

Late to the thread, but I thought the Flames were 3000% better than they were against Washington. Thought they were full marks for the win and carried the play most of the game. Hiller was good. Gaudreau is magic in OT.
Really pleased with the progress and hope it continues!

True. I was just expecting to see him on the puck more. He's had a few flashes, but he's really dialed his individual moves down. While that's good defensively I think there's more room for him than he thinks

I know Brodie and Giordano had great chemistry last year but Giordano and Wideman looked great last night. It's just one game but if that lasts, I would be open to keeping them together, putting Brodie with Smid and keeping Russell with Hamilton. That's very balanced.

To be fair... He was making room for himself to move into the slot with a prime scoring chance last night... When the linesman made that awful offside call.

I don't think I could've handled the Jays and Flames both losing in the same day again.

This is not directed at you guys, as I appreciate you posting the numbers.
But IMO, face off stats are useless, as presented.
I couldn't care less who wins draws at centre ice. I want to know who's winning draws in the offensive zone on the PP. And conversely, in the defensive zone.
There are draws, and there are draws. A guy could go 8 and 2 between the bluelines, but lose all 4 FOs in the offensive zone, including the one in the last minute, down by a goal. He would be 8-6 for the night, but would be completely useless.
I don't get why the NHL can't supply better information on this.

Monahan was 2-8 in the offensive zone (that's what I was noticing at the game) and 0-4 in the defensive zone. Yikes.
