F--- that. A little girl and her dad are dead. What is there to rehabilitate? At the very least lock it up forever.

The statistics, last I checked, indicate that capital punishment has no significant deterrent effect.

Without any tangible benefit, then I don't support state sanctioned killing. And I'm not hoping for vigilante prison justice, it's just I'm not going to shed a tear if it happens.

It's the difference between logical, rational thinking, and emotional thinking. And I am peace with both sides of that.

At any rate it doesn't matter, a man railing against the system for 60 years in isolation will eventually be devoured by his own mind.

From Nathan to Hailey, kids always pay the price for adult's malfeasance. Such tragedy and may little Hailey rest in peace, she's in a better place now.

Heartbreaking.

With adults in her life like those people, the poor girl never had much of a chance.

Reading what little info has been leaked out by friends and relatives, unfortunately, I share your sentiment.

Scum. Absolute scum. Death is too good for him. Put him in a tiny dark cell, alone, and throw away the key. Keep him alive and alone forever.

This.....make me angry. Just going to have to stop reading updates on this. Makes me want the death penalty. Why should I pay to let this Fracker live? Why does he deserve even 3 crappy meals a day? Why does he have a right to anything at this rate? You tell me under what category of humanity people like this deserve to live under and as of right now I'd tell you, you were wrong.

I'm in this same boat. I try to fight my feelings of vengeance though.

I tell myself that to be a civilized society, we need to be better than him. If he murders, and we as a society murder him, we took a life just like he did. It's not the strongest argument, but I tell myself that because I don't want to be a capital punishment proponent, although sometimes I want to be.

Default Amber Alert: 2 Year Old Abducted Near Crows Nest Pass

Death is not punishment, it's release. To cease to live is better than to live as less than human. In the same way that this murder was a product of the life the man experienced, his punishment is to continue living as the type of person he is. Take away the rest of his freedom.

To good people, early death is a punishment. To bad people, it's mercy.

Not if you use napalm and fire.

People right now are doing their best to process a tragic situation that has absolutely no silver linings.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who had to tell their wives last night they found her, or tell their children this morning when they asked about her.

The entire nation is hurting right now, and I for one appreciate this forum that allows us as a group grieve, and even tolerate raw and emotional reactions.

Im sorry, I don't think it's wrong to express raw emotion, I just meant it was jarring to me to see that side.

I hope the first line wasn't taken as judgement. This hits home for a lot of people.

No, Death is not punishment, but it is the best way to rid society of the deadweight this person will now be. Tell me what use is this person to the human race other than a tax anchor now? To help you sleep at night knowing that we as a whole did not return the favor he bestowed on one so defenseless? It's not mercy, it's not a punishment, its a favor to the rest of us.

The death penalty is a significantly higher tax burden than life in prison, actually. So the financial aspect is no excuse.
