Honestly as unbelievably pumped as I am for this series I'm kind of annoyed with the matchup at the same time as it's going to be impossible to have an actual hockey conversation about it, I know everyone hates the enemy but the level of discourse doesn't have to be that low.

Wait til Burrows starts diving and biting if you think its bad now.
Don't care what internet posters think either way; will be a great series.

The Nucks fans (and maybe players) are convinced they have a superior team. It would be lovely if the Flames could get home ice to cast some doubt going into the series.
ETA: plus it would mean Calgary wins going in and Vancouver loses if momentum counts.

I would just assume that he'll miss the whole playoffs.

This is the best possible matchup for Calgary. This is a team we can attack with our speed and they won't punish the Flames physically. It will be a long series that can go either way but I do like our chances.

Bouma out of the line-up concerns me. He would be a great playoff type player.

Its gonna be an interesting series, I think the teams matchup fairly evenly.
As long as Gudreau/Monahan/Hudler continue to play the way they have been, I like the Flames chances. They can be a better top line than the Sedin line.
No doubt in my mind that Hartley will have the team mentally prepared as well.
Flames in 6.

Aren't the Sedins the same two guys we beat 10 years ago?
Back when they weren't old?

The last time we beat them it was Naslun Morrison and Bertuzzi who was suspended at the time. They where nearing the end, and we sent them packing.
This time around the Sedin's are in that spot, and we will send them packing.

This is so badly spelled and written that I think it might be sarcastic but just as an aside, I really like those Earls Albino Rhino beers. Their winter pudding one is the best, but they're all pretty good.

I don't even live in Calgary, but I can't wait to see the Red Mile again.

Yep, both teams are benefiting from the new playoff format where the teams with the 6th-8th most points in the conference can play each other in the 1st round. Under the old system they'd likely be playing STL, NSH, or CHI to start.

I hope the Flames are the instigators for the great 2015 Vancouver riot.

Anyway, here are 4 things that can cause the Canucks to lose this series basically on their own.
1. Vancouver has one of the best PK's in the NHL, allowing the fewest goals against per 60 minutes of shorthanded time in the league (by a decent margin, too). If the Flames' power play can make it look average for even just a couple of games and go on a bit of a hot streak, it would go a long way as I really think special teams will be critical in this one. The Flames' speed should be able to draw a few calls against a Canucks defense that isn't great positionally from what I've seen this year.
2. Goaltending - the Canucks are in a weird situation as Ryan Miller likely plays Saturday vs Edmonton. They're probably starting Lack for game 1, but if he falters (either a bad game or even just a bad goal leading to a loss), it's goalie controversy time again and that might just de-rail their whole show.
3. Rookies - Obviously Johnny needs to outplay Horvat if the Flames are going to win, but the Canucks' Horvat line has been important down the stretch in providing them with some depth. From what I've seen, though, they're pretty hot and cold. If they're on a cold run in the series, it'll be hard for VAN to win without all four lines. Especially because...
4. Injuries. Obviously the Flames have the biggest missing player, but the Canucks are (as of yesterday) missing their entire third line of Matthias, Richardson and Kassian. Looking at HF, it's not clear that any of them will be back for game 1. Matthias might just be getting maintenance time, but Richardson's injury has been a mystery for a while. You might be thinking "whatever, he sucks anyway", but in his absence they have to play Linden Vey, who sucks more. As for Kassian, he has 10 goals in 42 games this year - that's about a 20 goal pace, and that's a lot of depth offense to lose. As far as I can tell he isn't even skating.
That is a lot of question marks facing the other guys.
