Losing the way they did is no fun but at the same time I think this will somehow light a fire behind every player that did not bring their A game..... They know who they are and if you don't, just check the game against the AVS on Monday to find out! Many are blaming Russell...he misjudged his bank pass.....It's not like the nice pass Max Pacioretty made right to Stamkos last week! (now that was awful)... Russell? He was trying to trap 2 forecheckers before making the play and then well...we know the rest.....Oh and in the 1st, he saved a sure goal when he made a save before Jackets hit the crossbar..... Go Flames Go 6-2-2 last 10 games so just repeat this in the last 10 games and we are in... Let's be positive guys!
One other thing to add - Gaudreau needs to know better than to campaign for a penalty shot the way he did on that one play. I thought live that he simply tried to dive for the puck and the referee was about to make a bad hooking call against Columbus, but as soon as he went to the referee with crossed arms - mimicking the international/minor/USA Hockey signal for a penalty shot - he sunk himself.
I think rather than focus on one play, it was more a case of far too many casual plays from lots of players later in the 3rd and OT. I didn't think Ramo's positioning was great on either backhand goal, looks like he was off on his angle on the tying one and was too far off the post on the winning one. I didn't like the pass through the middle on CBJ's first goal, that was a bad give away too.
Lots of little mistakes today, and obviously one big thing, but doesn't seem right to focus on that as the sole reason for the loss.
They had a bad third but if he doesn't make that dumb play the game doesn't go into OT. Ramo didn't look good on it either but as someone who used to play goal I know how your defense making a bonehead play that puts the puck near the goal instead of away from it can throw you off so I'll give him a break this time.
That giveaway for an NHL player would be like the equivalent of a bus driver pressing the gas instead of the brake and accidentally rear ending someone. One of the worst mistakes by a Flames player this season.
Like I said, I'm going to blame it on that play. You can blame it on whatever you want.
I'm with polak on this one. Elite NHLers don't make mistakes. Just take a look at these assclowns.
Martin Brodeur, one of the greatest goalies of all time, or one of the greatest idiots of all time? You be the judge.
Patrick Roy, Hall of Famer? More like Hall of Shamer!
Look at this bum, Patrick Kane. Should probably be playing beer league if he's going to make mistakes like these.

I tend to agree, as while he was a bit off he was also caught by surprise a little and you don't always have time to recover as much as you'd like.
How are people even talking about Ramo? His team didn't put enough goals in for him based on their chances, and Russell gifted the Jackets the tying goal on an incredibly bad play 100% caused by nerves. He should have cross iced it to his partner much earlier in the sequence, didn't have the gumption cause he was tight, tried to play it ultra safe and the. Failed in the execution in epic fashion.
It is what it is, pick yourself up and move on, Russell has earned an error or two. But today's game, which was the biggest loss of the season for sure as this was the easiest date on this crucial home stand was lost because the Flames PP was abysmal after that first goal, some bad puck luck on our chances, and a disaster mistake by Russell. Ramo shouldn't even be in the equation.

Flames scored on a bad bounce and so as the Blue Jackets. It happens and nothing they can do about it. I am dissapointed that the Flames lost but at least they got a point on that lost. Blaming one or more players on that lost is ridiculous. The only thing I am not happy right now is seeing the other lines not scoring NOT for lack of effort. It seems that lately, the Flames have to rely on the 1st line and Wideman, Russell and Brodie for scoring. If other team shuts down the 1st line or those 3 D that I mentioned, the team just can't score. I thought Stajan's line was buzzing today but same thing, they can't finish.
Referees today I thought did well. They let the players decide the game. Gaudreau's diving penalty was borderline. It looks like he dove for the puck but that is easy for us to see it. Ref had to make a split second decision so I guess we can't blame him for calling that dive. Even the Columbus interference penalty late in the game puzzled me a bit. It took until Hrudey explanation(after talking to McGeough) that I did see why he called for it.
It's a tough lost but like I said at least we got a point out of it and we are still ahead by 2 points on LA.
Calgary let off the gas at the halfway mark and it bit them in the butt. Bobrovsky was great. I wish Calgary received goaltending like that. Amazing effort by the Jackets netminder.

If one given up bad goal costs us a playoff berth, we shouldn't even be in it anyway. Do some math. Russell have about 8 billion blocked shots this year, and has probably stopped 20-30 scoring chances as such. Give the guy a frikkin break over one boneheaded error.
Not sure why you are all hot and bothered when you recognize the play for what is and are in agreement with most here. Bonehead play cost them a valuable point. Player at fault happened to be Russell. I have yet to see a single person call for Russell to be benched, traded, or even a comment about whether he's truly a 2nd pairing defenseman. Flames simply have to be better than this against teams playing out the string. Hopefully they come back with a little more urgency against the Avalanche.
Wow. This thread is an absolute embarrassment for Flame fans. It is a perfect illustration of why it has become so difficult for Canadian teams to win.
The game is played on ice with sticks and a galvanized rubber, and oddly shaped puck. Bounces happen.
Calling guys names and blaming the season on a single play are such moronic over-reactions. No wonder so many players don't want to play in Canada.
Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.
And yes, the players do hear these comments. Maybe not yours, but they hear them.
I seriously wish the fans that whine and cry after losses like the players have done them a personal dis-service, would just ****off and go away.

LOL actually the overreaction to the overreaction is kind of just embarrassing. It's like some fans simply can't let others have their peace without having to sink to an even lower level. I personally believe the most embarrassing posts have been from the fan police like the major overreaction a couple of posts above.
