Actually, it's possible. A lot of waiver-eligible goalies get sent down to the minors every October, and it's not that often that they get claimed. It's a numbers game, really.
My own preference (at the moment) would be for the Flames to re-sign Ramo, and let the three goalies battle it out for the two jobs. If Ramo or Hiller loses out, you trade him for what you can get; if Ortio loses, you send him down. The only way you lose him is if (a) at least one team thinks your third-string goalie is better than their backup, (b) that team is willing to waive their own guy, and (c) your third-stringer is better than all the other goalies on waivers. The odds are actually quite good that you won't lose him.

That fourth line is a full on solid second line in training. I really feel like Poirier-Shore-Gaudreau can really take it to the opposition with their speed and skill. Not only that, but apparently Shore can bang right along with Poirier. There's grit and a ton of skill on that line. They need more minutes.

I now truly know what it's like to be a canuck fan.
Watching your team win when clearly they should have lost.
Like them..take it and run.

I'd say no chance 92 is enough. Probably not 94.
So 12-7 is needed.

Had an idea!

Poirier is making the first impression that Sven never could. That is why he'll have a long-term chance with the big club.
Not about making the big play. The small things are more important at this point in their careers.

I know crapping on Sven is fun now, but this quote made me laugh out loud "Poirier is making the first impression that Sven never could". Haha, that is so awesome on so many levels.
As for the game nice to grind out a win after a strong push from the Flyers. I still think it is possible for the Canucks to fall out of this thing, their goaltending and defence is awful right now. 92 could get it done.

Powerplay Quarterback

I'm pretty sure, if we are talking about first impressions in the same context I have always interpreted them.. That Sven blew the friggin doors off and immediately generated several hundred thousands of bushels of (in hindsight, misplaced) superstar-pining hope.

Would it in any way be possible to contain the Baertchi talk to just the threads that are Baertchi-related?
This is getting really tiresome.

He's both right and wrong at the same time.
Three goals in five games as a junior emergency call-up is one hell of a first impression.
At the same time, Baertschi had no expecations or responsibilities in those games. We just needed a body. Poirier does have expectations, and they are to be a more complete player, which he is showing so far.

If we get a powerplay, we should just have one player go and hang out with Hiller/Ramo.

Yeah, Svens first impression is what started this whole mess and made him think he already made the team.

Interesting tidbit - Mony & Brodie are the only 2 Flames to play every single game this year.

Nah, then the other four skaters will just get complacent and lazy.
The trick is to tell the fifth guy to stay behind his own blue line, and do nothing but intercept iced pucks and golf them back again. That will make it more like a real 4-on-4.
