Arizona generally just does not draft good players. Or players that amount to more than they are expected. They're good at stocking up on futures, but just don't make anything out of them. I guess development too, then. Other than OEL, can't recall any real elite young player that's emerged from that organization. They had a decent one in Turris but let him go before he amounted to anything.

-They will pay Yandle about 3 million to play for the Rangers for 2 playoff runs.

-They are still paying Runblads buy out. Only 200k left though.

-They couldn't afford to re sign their leading goal scorer, Vrbata. Those buy outs above are roughly what Vrbata makes.

-Dubynk had 9 wins and was their best goalie this year. They traded him for a 3rd and put the Wild back into contention. Thanks Maloney.

- They only have one true blue chip prospect. Domi.

Ya, they got a lot of picks. But it's kind of like listening to Feaster pat himself on the back for drafting Stamkos. They got those picks by building a joke of a team. If I was a Coyotes fan, I would not be happy at all.
Hmm... you make a convincing case good sir

Going into 2014, I'd say Phoenix had been managed well... but since then, wow. That is a good point by the above poster.... just terrible. That's like when Darryl Sutter had his 48 hour meltdown but extended over a whole year.

I do find it funny when alot/most people are declaring winners and losers 20min after the trade. In a deal like this there isn't really a winner or loser. The majority of the trade is unknown.

I think its safe to say Phoenix got good value. but who knows if the 1st rounder they draft is a dud, or Duclair turns into nothing. The fact that Domi and Duclair played so well in the world juniors is attractive, but to think that will translate into the NHL is a pipe dream at this point.

If NYR makes it to the Final again or wins the cup you have to consider them winners based on the result and the loss of the 1st or Duclair being moot. Then again, NYR could bow out first round and this could look like a complete disaster. Time will tell
