The bolded part I just don't get. The required assets to attain him HAVE to be taken into consideration. "If you can get, take him" implies that you're not concerned with what has to go back the other way. I'd prefer to keep our assets, a few of whom may have the potential to be Kessel-type players.
Yes, of course. I should have been more detailed and said "If you can get him, while not unreasonably, or significantly downgrading the ongoing rebuild results by overpaying for a proven NHL superstar and thus leaving the cupboards empty as a result, then take him" but I thought that was too many words....

Don't over pay, but don't dismiss it out of hand either also fits.

Now is the time for Burke to chip in and pull off another epic trade like he did for Toronto when he stole Phaneuf away for spare parts.

Circle of life!

But do you really think he can be had without giving up one of our top young players? I don't think he can. So to that I say no thank you.

And then you have to factor in his terrible contract which will likely hamper us for more seasons than it helps us, and his awful play everywhere but the blue-line in, and his well documented unwillingness to adapt to a full team concept. And to that I say holy f*** please God no!

Please please please stop offering our 2015 first rounder in these proposals. We need that to draft a D man.

I feel like Treliving/Burke have explored Kessel already. If a trade for him is made, it was weeks/months in the works. If not to trade for him, they've already decided not to bother with him.

I politely disagree. We need to use that pick to take the best player available.

I like the player but I don't see us as being in the position to offer what it would take to get him. It makes sense to inquire though.

Kessel was 22 when Burke acquired him. Dion was 23 (nearly 24). It's a different ball game 6 years later.
