From Bob Hartley:

Bob Hartley yesterday about the water problem on the ice that delayed practice:

"They tried to drown us"
And
"I love California. Swimming lessons before practice."

Bob... is there some way I can follow your life doctrine? This guy just nails it.

Maybe write a letter the Ken King saying you want Bob Hartley to adopt you. It's worth a shot.

I don't think the Flames publish Hartley's email address so you'll have to go thru Ken. You could probably try just bhartley@calgaryflames.com. Also worth a shot.

EDIT: PS - If you end up getting adopted, I get to come over and play sometimes since it was my idea.

I called dibs in March, but yes you can come over and play too. Just take the 79 bus to Ferlandia.

Bob about managing players ice time:
"Minutes are not important. If I was working with bombs, maybe minutes and seconds would be important."

They are brilliant as is, but on top of that, reading them in his voice is just gravy.

Talking about Johnny.....

"Special. He’s special. He’s a special young man,” Hartley said. “To play at his size, to play at that skill set, I’ve never seen this. Usually you’re going to see a little player like this, he’s going to be a power play artist and if you lead by a goal or two you put him right in the middle of the bench basically as the grocery stick separating the d-men and the forwards and say ‘you’ve done your job’ and we’re going to try to sit on that one or two goal lead."

Bob Hartley on his Jack Adam's nomination:

Quote:
"It's a true reflection of our team. As a coach, you can stand on the ice with your whistle or you can stand behind the bench and have the nicest suit, but if you don't have any players, you're not going to get anything accomplished.

Everything we've done as a team this year, the credit goes to our players."

Bob Hartley missed the Backlund reference on Jimmy Fallon. The only TV he watches is hockey ... and Chicago Fire. "I like the Chief."
