Also want to point out how great Colborne's game has been since the christmas break. Moves like the one tonight really makes me think he is super close to breaking out.

The HNIC crew compared him to Ron Francis earlier this year. Either way, high praise.
He is looking like a steal at 6th overall.

I really just want to say a big thank you to the Carolina Hurricanes for taking Lindholm at number 5. Again. Thank you.

Monday's game is going to be huge, with both teams going in with 51 points (Flames are seeded ahead based on the ROW tiebreaker).

Also want to thank them for turning down the rumoured trade offer the oilers made to swap first round picks cause the oilers wanted Monahan and they knew the flames would take him.

Wideman and Russell for me were better than Gio and Brodie tonight. And while that is a bit alarming for our top pairing (some real questionable plays from them), it was REALLY good to see some quality hockey from our second pairing! They moved the puck effectively up the ice and in the offensive zone. Hopefully Wideman can get the PP going. If anyone, I'd trust him to put home a bomb before this trip is done.
I've been very meh about Colborne since he came here, but the past few weeks he's been doing a lot more than keeping the bench warm. I may finally be warming up to him. He needs to keep it going.
I see Shore has been very sheltered. Makes sense, but they should try him on the PP. I've heard he's a pretty good playmaker, and not like the PP is doing anything lately.
Gaudreau has been holding his own, but I'd like to see him utilizing his creativity out there more. Haven't had many wow moments lately, which is unlike him. But it's already a very long season for him.
I'm confident Monahan will more than make up any offense lost with Glencross given the way he's playing, which is exactly what we needed from him on this crucial trip.
If Ortio can hold the fort in LA, then they should be phoning around to clear him a roster spot. You run with the guy that gives you the best chance.

This kid Monahan really can do it all. Every part of his game is getting better... His face off percentage, his foot speed, his playmaking, his defensive play, and his strength. Awesome to see. And he is clutch in so many ways... OT goals, shootout goals, and he seems to win those really important face offs at big moments of the game.

Flames move back into a playoff spot the same night the Oilers move into 29th overall.

Drew Shore only played one game for the Flames so far. Too early to give the guy a power play time. Let him earn it first.

I get your point, but at the end of the game, when it is all on the line, the play Gio makes to set up the winner is all-world. Play of the game right there.

So Monahan has ended 9 games in his first season and a half plus?
Dude is the terminator of hockey. Definitely has the monotone voice down too.

Shore looked a bit out of sync with the rest of the team in the last game. He is not familiar with the system yet, so it makes sense that he sat, so he can get some practices in. It will be interesting if we see a Shore Vs Shore game on Monday. Both Shores made their season debut in the last couple days (Drew vs AZ and Nick Vs Ducks tonight).
