Price is the only reason why the advanced stat guys don't talk about Montreal in the same tones they do Toronto, Colorado or Calgary.

Goalies shouldn't win the hart because their position is so fundamentally different from everyone else on the ice. Goalies have the Vezina and Jennings awards.

Defenseman do not have that same vast difference in the type of game they play.

Giordano's been so far and away the best player on a vastly inferior team that almost everyone picked to finish in the bottom three or four this year. He's leading the league in D scoring and is leading his team in scoring.

Price is doing great things with Montreal, but they are a conference final team from last year, it is not a surprise at all that they are good this year.

Rinne in Nashville has a better argument, but the defense of Webber, Jones and Josi undermines his Hart case a little.

Giordano for Hart. That is all.

This argument is ridiculous. Goalies have the Vezina, defencemen have the Norris, forwards have the Art Ross/Selke/Rocket.. the Hart is for the most valuable player. It doesn't matter what position they play.

Gio is the front runner for the Norris but when it comes time to vote strange things can happen.
Remember Iggy lost the Hart only because 1 voter deliberately left him entirely off his ballot.
If Iggy would have gotten even a 5th place vote from that writer he would have one by 4 votes.
If Gio wins it will be because the Eastern writers don't screw him over and respect that this season he is the class of the league and was right out of the chute.

Rinne and Price are going to go down to the wire for the Vezina/Hart. Probably Price will win both, because Montreal. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but that could end up being the determinging factor between the two.

I think Gio will win the Norris, particularly if he can crack 60 points. That's kind of the magic number for Norris winners now.

Gio's only chance to win is by having a really impressive, high profile road trip.

If Nashville finish 1st overall, Rinne wins the Hart going away.

The Vezina is voted on by the general managers. Certainly will still be biases but should Price win the Vezina it wont have much to do with him playing for Montreal.

Wasn't sure what thread to bump but Wideman now has 44 points and is 7 points back for the lead but has a -1. Is he now a legitimate contender for the Norris?

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
My Norris winner, playing in only 61 games, is CGY's Mark Giordano. Before CGY fans applaud, I voted OTT's Mark Stone for Calder (rookie).

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Norris Trophy is a clusterfudge this year, so I found it necessary to invoke Mario's Law, circa '93, when Lemieux won Hart with 60 GPs.

That'd be nice... but I think Bob is wrong on both.

Gaudreau gets the Calder, someone else gets the Norris.
I think with Gaudreau, there's just too much hype for him, specifically in the US already.

Yeah I thought the Calder was a lock until Stone's last game....I think the only way Gio was going to get the Norris was to play all 82 and make it impossible for the vote to go anywhere else. His injury allows an "out".
