Quite frankly I dont give two craps about the style of his jacket but more people could use a really good slap to the face.

That is fantastic.

Charges were dropped against the slapper but his lawyer insinuates that they're looking at civil litigation.

I hope they dont sue the girl, I'm not a proponent of excessive litigation.

I dont know if its a Canadian thing, but she was being a bitch and got epically slapped in the face, for me thats justice done and leave it at that.

Except for the part where he spent 4 nights in jail because of it.

Those four nights spent in jail, would that affect your employability in the US or in Canada if a new employer ran a criminal history check?

Jail doesn't equal a conviction and a criminal record.

Looks like Pena will be suing the City for his 4-day detention.

my favourite part of the article: "He told The Post that the jacket is actually highly fashionable right now and was worn by the rapper TI in a recent music video."

Great, now there's a litigation angle!

This whole story is just so...American.

I'm getting tired of this guy saying stuff like:
Quote:
“I love this jacket,” Peña said. “But I don’t think I can wear it anymore.
“People will just know me because of it and what happened.”
...yet he's constantly posing for full face pics in news articles.

People are now going to know him for the face that's splashed all over the newspapers and online articles, not for the jacket.

I'm not so sure. If he passed right by me on the street without the jacket, he'd go completely unnoticed. With the jacket, however, and I would instantly think of the slap incident if I saw him from a block away.

I do agree with you though - he's seems worried about the publicity while generating more publicity about it.

This happened in New York; no one is going to recognize your face in New York unless you're a mega-celeb. Hell, NHL players enjoy NYC for the anonymity.

The jacket is far more recognizable.

Why did he spend 4 days in jail for a pretty minor assault charge?

Why does America treat their citizens like garbage?

And he should sue the city. There was ZERO reason that he should spend time in jail from that video. He was assaulted and nobody tried to stop the bully before it got out of hand.

Being arrested and fingerprinted can show up in a CRC.
