meh, he could have avoided it by not acting like a colossal ######. It's not even like he was "sorta" being a dick ... he was being a full on dick. Pretty sure his life won't be ruined, he's just going to feel pretty ashamed (or not) and rightfully so.

No kidding.

When I take up an extra seat or two with my bag/outstretched feet I just pretend I can't hear people talking to me.

Autistic maybe? Not really a defense, but a possibility?

Every case of Autism is different, but one consistent trend is actions that come off as inconsiderate or rude.

I've just seen similar actions from autistic children at my school , one in particular would of reacted almost exactly like that. "The floor is dirty, therefor I don't want my bag on the floor, it'd be uncomfortable on my lap, therefor I don't want it on my lap"

But ya, he is probably just a jerk

I taught in a school for autistic children and later adult learners with autism. The motivation you're talking about might be there, but that kind of passive aggressive confrontation is not something I've seen from an autistic individual.

Outbursts, sure, but passive aggressive confrontation? I dunno.

Who knows though. Don't think it really matters, either way.

Nope, but i wouldn't be surprised for a story "like" that to come out from this pending the outcome from the lynching posse looking for him.

I just stand near them and fart.

Wait, who am I kidding, if it was Taco Tuesday, I will do that even if they dont have a bag on the seat.

I wish these internet lynch mobs would put their effort into bringing pedophiles and murders to justice instead of... plain ol' jerks

Yeah, passive aggressive kind of requires a good model of the other person's mind and prediction of their reaction based on your actions based on that model, the kinds of things people (well kids anyway, don't have any experience with adults) on the spectrum find challenging.

We don't have all sides of the story yet. For you to say it most likey happened this way is a bit presumptuous.

It's funny how this kind of stuff (and much worse) happens hundreds of times everyday, all over the country, and this is what goes viral and gets everyone in a frenzy. I'm convinced it's mostly because of how ridiculous he looks. We are such an enlightened species.

We dont have the entire story so it is tough to judge what went down but it is never cool to see a guy giving a lady the finger and acting that way towards a female. It's just a shame and I am sure he wouldnt appreciate someone treating his mother that way.

Someone asked that question on the reddit thread, this is what the OP replied:
