Here's a good write-up on Matt DeBlouw, who is on a four-game point streak and seems to have finally re-found his game after an extremely disappointing sophomore year: http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-...021915aaa.html
Quote:
Matt DeBlouw has scored three goals in his last four games and has a point in four straight games.
He's playing on Michigan State's most dangerous forward line, including regular duty on the power play.
In addition, DeBlouw is playing a key role as a penalty killer.
Overall, the 6-foot-1, 187-pound junior center, is making a huge impact on a Spartans team that has shown great improvement since late November, and is suddenly contender for a high finish in the Big Ten.
It's taken some time but DeBlouw's play is at the highest level it's been in two-and-a-half seasons at MSU. And he's quietly erasing the memories of his sophomore year, his most disappointing season as a hockey player.
Last year, DeBlouw never got his game going. He was in and out of the lineup and ended with no goals and four assists in 23 games. That was a shock to DeBlouw and his coaches, especially after a productive freshman season in which he was tied for second in team scoring with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 42 games.
"I had to accept that I had no goals and said to myself that this year was going to be way different,'' DeBlouw said. "You have to take every year and learn what you've gone through and work hard to be better the following year.''
This season, DeBlouw has played in all of MSU's 26 games and has seven goals and four assists for 11 points. He's arguably the fastest skater on the team and has the hardest shot.

Apparently Jankowski scored what would have been the OT winner against U Mass last night but the goal was called off
Quote:
Halfway through the overtime period, Nick Saracino (St. Louis, Mo.) had a great chance but Mastalerz made a blocker save. Then the Friars appeared to score at 3:21 of overtime when Mark Jankowski (Dundas, Ontario) crashed the net and forced the puck over the goal line. The play was called a goal on the ice, but after review it was deemed that contact was made with Mastalerz before puck crossed the line.
30 seconds later U Mass would score and Providence lost 2-1.
Jankowski would finish the night with 6 shots and -1.
Jankowski won 11 facoffs and lost 7

Jankowski really seems to be good at face-offs! Every game he appears to be 60% or better. If he could just bring that to the Flames on a 3rd or 4th line that would be solid.
The first period is over in the Beanpot (Boston U. vs. Northeastern U.). Hickey was quite good defensively and likes to use his body and positioning. He made a couple of nice outlet passes. At one point N.U. got a breakaway and he managed to catch the forward in front of the B.U. goal and muscle him off the puck without taking a penalty. His speed was very evident. He also got off a good low point shot and finished the period playing on the P.K. Hard to believe he's only 18.

Friars won 5-2 over the Maine Black Bears. Can't find FO stats, but Janko was held pointless with two shots and was a -1. I believe he was on for a SHGA.
Gillies made 19 saves for the win.
Providence is turning into somewhat of an offensive power. They had 42 shots on net last night.

4 goals in 29 games. 1 point in his last 5 games. Does anyone get to watch his games? Is he just snake bit or is he just not an impact player? He is really behind the pace of his comparables (Kreider, Wheeler, Hayes) in their 3rd year.

Calgary Flames, PLEASE GO TO THE NET! AND SHOOT THE PUCK! GENERATING OFFENSE IS NOT DIFFICULT! SKATE HARD, SHOOT HARD, CRASH THE NET HARD!

I'm thinking the latter. He seems pretty solid and is trusted in key situations but we haven't seen much in the way of big games or video highlights to suggest he's an impact player. Maybe he's a defensive specialist, nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, exactly. Could be a 3rd line guy. Eric Nystrom had 22 points (in 43 games) in his 3rd season. It's possible that's Jankowski's trajectory if he doesn't have the offence for a 2nd line role.
They recently changed the layout to their pages Trailer Fire. I spent a good hour last week re-finding all the stats to do the weekly update. It's a headache now as the stats are partial and found in two places instead of that one nice form. Not a fan of the "upgrade".
