Edmonton seems to get a lot of big 50/50 jackpots in general. IIRC, the one at the Canada-US New Year's Eve game during the World Juniors was over a quarter million too.
Last season, the Oilers didn't have a 50/50 under $45,000 in the regular season, and even their preseason ones were over $30,000.

He was asking if the $350,000 was the overall pot total or if it was the actual winnings of the 50/50.
with the way most 50/50 works, they want to advertise the pot total to attract more buyers, so $350,000 is probably the pot total. Winner is taking home $175,000

Exactly, but the Eskimos twitter account is saying the winner gets $350k, that's rather silly. And the unclaimed prize from the Ottawa game was in the $70k range (implied to be total pot, which is what the pool began at last night).

Yeah, I noticed that too where Lewis seems out of shape and got beaten by the defenders.
You'd think for someone trying to keep their own "a catch every game" streak alive, he'd work harder to maintain it
I hope they put him on IR just to lose some weight

I didn't notice he was even playing in the game until they showed his fat arse running around in the 3rd quarter on TV.

That would be hilarious if the winner took the Eskimos to court over the fact that they advertised winning $350,000.
awarding another $175,000 is like giving away 3 Eskimo's salary X'D

Looks like the winner is getting $348,534. So they sold about $700K.
http://globalnews.ca/news/1471738/ed...nearly-350000/
The winning ticket number for tonight's 50/50 worth $348,534 is 280731C
Half of the total ticket sales is awarded to the winner, and the other half to minor football programs, including the Edmonton Huskies Junior Football Club, Edmonton Wildcats Junior Football Club, University of Alberta Golden Bears, Football Alberta and the Eskimo Alumni Association.
http://www.esks.com/article/tonights...534-is-280731c
An additional $348,534 raised at the game will go to support amateur football.
So, they sold $553,694 last night. If 40,000 each bought a ticket, they each spent $13.84.

Eskimo Head coach Jones fits right in with Edmontonian way of speaking

Oilers and Eskimos use the same 50/50 system and they always display only the winnings on screen. I hate it when teams show the entire pot, it's misleading. Who cares how much the total is, people only care how much they're going to take home.

When the Flames started putting the total pot on screen, the prizes rose dramatically. From the $15k range on most nights to the winner to $35k. Bigger numbers make people more inclined to buy.

Hufnagel deserves credit for sticking with Mitchell. It's his team, zero controversy

A QB controversy in July would be horrible. It's the CFL, the summer games are really just a warm up for the all important stretch from Labour Day into and including the playoffs (Pending you do not play so poorly that you take yourself out of a playoff spot that early). If I was Huf I wouldn't switch out Mitchell until he loses a couple of games while playing this poorly.
Even then I would remind folks that it's not like deferring to Tate is putting the ball in more 'experienced' veteran hands. Drew Tate has 8 career regular season starts compared to Bo Levi Mitchell's 7 career CFL regular season starts. Bo Levi with his 4 starts this season has started more games in a season than Tate has in any season. At this point Tate needs to be a decent upgrade over Mitchell to take away starts from a QB who has higher potential and could build on the experience. With the key injuries on offense, it's hard to say how much of the offensive struggles is from Mitchell's poor play and how much of it is the play calling designed for the limited skills of the remaining offensive personnel.

He wasn't playing for most of the game. Once Matt Walter got hurt we switched to an import running back which meant we had to play one more Canadian somewhere else on the offense to keep the ratio right and Lewis ended up on the sidelines for most plays. Towards the end they were playing him instead of Joe West but Mitchell started to get locked in on Fuller and McDaniel.
