Glad to hear Klimchuk progressing. He kind of fell off the radar last year with injuries, Monahan making the team, and Poirier tearing up the Q. However, he was projected to go as early as the Poirier pick, and has the Nilsson/Nieuwendyk/Iginla lineage in his favor if you believe in that stuff.

For his sake, I hope not. Horrible rankings with zero information on each prospect. I really get the feeling you didn't see many of the prospects and just threw down a vague comment to give the impression of some level of knowledge.

It's a reference I use to track the scoring for all of the consolidates Flames players in one place. I opened it up to the community to be nice. Feel free not to use it.

Klimchuk was the second best or third best forward there. Only Gaudreau and maybe Bennett were better. Definitely a huge step up for him.
It is a disappointment that he is going to the WHL instead of the AHL. He's too good for that. He'll be on team Canada for sure.

Made it for the whole game today. My thoughts a few guys I tried to focus on more.
Klimchuk and Arnold looker great together, best forward line by a large margin. Arnold won almost all his faceoffs and they generally just controlled the puck. I could see both of them being quality NHL 3rd liners before the end of next season just by the way they played.
Gaudreau, same as what I saw in the 3rd period Monday. Obviously the most talented player on the ice, Best stick handler, finds the open ice, one of the fastest guys. No problem handling physical contact from much bigger players. But he was certainly guilty of over handling the puck. It seemed like he wanted to take every guy on one-one, in the NHL he will need to dump, or pass, or go wide and hope for reinforcements at times. Still he could have been going out of his way to challenge the other players?
Gilmour was impressive for a late round pick, I could see him earning a contract next year. I could echo the comment, just no mistakes.
Kanzig looked great early. I thought balance looked like more of an issue than speed, he didn't handle some relatively soft bumps from smaller guys that well at times. And his stamina might not be there, I didn't think he look as impressive when it got down to the 2 on 2's. Both easy things for a new Pro to work on.
Harrisson seems to have good power forward instincts for driving at loose pucks and the nets, looks like another late round pick that could earn a contract.
Kulak and Culkin, I had something to say about them but I for got which was which.
Bennett, looked a little under whelming out there. There were moments where it looked like he was going to do something but he just wasn't getting quite the time and space he needed. I think there is a good chance he will learn some big lessons in training camp against pros, and go back for 1 more season in the OHL.
Agostino was a little inconsistent, and probably won't be switching to center anytime soon. With the short man situations he played center allot in this game.
McDonald watched him more closely in the warm up. Seems to like his glove, he caught allot more pucks than he deflected.

Thanks for the insight and definitely agree on the majority. Unfortunately Klimchuk will have to go back to Jr and not be eligible for the NHL unless he makes the team out of camp. Arnold seems to be progressing nicely and I could see him having a great rookie season in Adirondack. Possibly a trade-deadline call-up.

Gaudreau normally likes to use his teammates in game, but he's the best player on the ice at all times, so might as well try some magic when the stakes are low and the physical play is limited. The reason he survives in every league he plays is due to dishing the puck at the right times and finding open ice around the net.

Thanks take it for what it's worth, I tried to stay within the two games I watched this week.
Not worried about Gaudreau at all. But trying to dance arround every guy he looks up at won't work at the NHL level. The look on his face when he did it made you think he was kinda playing around. I even wondered if maybe the coaches told him to challenge guys to stop him one-on-one.
Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant the 2015/16 season. I think Klimchuk and Arnold were totally playing the type of game that will make them successful pro's. But they were basically playing NCAA level talent, so I think it will be at least 1.5 years before they really establish themselves as pros.

Random thought: Can we start calling him John? We're not his buddies and he's not seven years old.

Honestly I get them mixed up all the time too. I'm not sure why since their last names aren't even that similar.

I have a feeling that Culkin and Kulak are going to be like Gio and Richie Regehr were the first season after the lockout. I think there's going to be a lot of debate back-and-forth all season long about who's the better prospect and who's more deserving of a call-up, and they'll both likely get a few NHL games during the season.
Now, we just need them both to develop like Gio, and things will be good.

Kulak has the best shot of any of the D prospects by a wide margin. That probably gives him a leg up on the rest even if the rest of his game might not be as good as a Wotherspoon or Sieloff.
