Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
On Dan Boyle, around 10 teams showed interest. Rangers and Flyers are among those teams. #tvasports

He's still a talented player.

Isles make a ton of sense for Richards. He wouldn't have to move or uproot the lifestyle he wanted so bad when he signed his last contract with the Rangers. Basically no hope of winning another cup there though.

I don't know about that. I think the isles are only a few pieces away from being a contender in a year or 2. The Vanek deal hurts but picking up Halal and finding a couple top 4 dmen, they are not far off IMO.

The Detroit Red Wings reached out to the representatives of several players Wednesday at the start of the NHL's free agent interview period.

They focused on their biggest need – a right-handed shooting defenseman. General manager Ken Holland will meet face-to-face with the agents for Matt Niskanen and Dan Boyle, among others, Thursday in Philadelphia, the site of this weekend's entry draft.

Damn, that Niskanen is going to get overpaid come July 1st. Love to have him but I don't think we should overpay him...so I guess no chance in him coming to Calgary.

Dan Boyle to Detroit is almost predictable. I can already picture in in the Winged wheel.

Wild contact Niskanen, Mitchell, Vanek, and Stastny:
http://www.startribune.com/sports/wi...PJoyVRIhhXg.97

Quote:
It’s not believed the Wild had any formal sit-downs yet, but General Manager Chuck Fletcher contacted at least the agents of defensemen Matt Niskanen and Willie Mitchell, goal scorer Thomas Vanek and center Paul Stastny, NHL sources confirmed. At a minimum, Fletcher is expected to meet with Niskanen’s agent, Neil Sheehy, and Vanek’s agent, Steve Bartlett, while they’re all in Philadelphia this week for the NHL draft.

I am starting to think we should just draft every freakin' right handed shot defenseman and corner the market.

Yeah, I doubt Stralman comes to the Flames after his last adventure here.

If I was Brad Richards I'd totally sign with the Islanders. They'll probably pay him a stupid amount and he won't even need to move.

Considering that there are lots of people saying that teams are in cap hell and they will need to off load players, I keep hearing a lot of the same teams mentioned in the FA rumours (Philadelphia being one).

I know that you can go over the cap until September (?) but do we really see some of these big cap teams being able to afford some of the FA's or will things balance up and the FA's will have to look at teams like NYI??

William DePaoli @TIOPS_DePaoli
Up to 12 teams have called on Matt Niskanen. One of first calls was New York Islanders.

William DePaoli @TIOPS_DePaoli
Hear the Niskanen talks will start at 7 years, $40 million. Teams Niskanen is high on like Detroit, can't imagine they stretch beyond that

William DePaoli @TIOPS_DePaoli
Jussi Jokinen camp heard from three teams today. They expect more teams to show interest in coming days. #Penguins, #nhljets

William DePaoli @TIOPS_DePaoli
Brooks Orpik who penguins haven't ruled out resigning, has received calls from Capitals, Blues, among others per source.

The starting price for Niskanen is $5.7 mil/year if the above report is correct
