With there being two factions of mafia, they are less likely to be able to sway a vote in their favour. As they are only able to talk with 3 other members outside this forum. So each mafia faction only has 4 votes to cast.

We townsfolk have 22 votes. We can easily stack votes to get out somebody, but that should also allow each mafia group to piggy-back on our vote to take out suspicion. I think to keep an eye on voting blocks will help as each mafia faction should want to get to night time quickly, so there is less investigation, and 2 night kills.

The beauty of it is that all votes are retractable, so at the very least we'll see HG on the defensive instead of plain offensive (I could have picked a better wording for that).

I'm sure that he's thought this through when he threw out the vote, and knew he was putting a sniper rifle target square between his own eyes. Its just interesting to see what happens to a person when they're knocked slightly off balance, and what his fall back position is.

This is not just about the vote on day one, but the vote on day 2 or 3 or 4.

We saw in the last game that when your put on the defensive its hard to shake off that target.

I am very wary about lynching based on over posting, but am willing to consider it.

The best thing for the most active town poster in the previous game to do would be to continue that activity in this game to have people draw the same conclusions. That doesn't prove anything though, it just gives some justification if you are having the thought.

I would be much happier with a random lynch or even better the least active lynch, so I am going to lean that way at this point and throw out a vote to generate activity, with the intention that I can withdraw it later if some other compelling ideas come forward.

Vote: Activestick

I stand by my earlier comments that I would be more comfortable voting because of either in-activity or voting based off of contribution.

Like I said, I knew being this vocal early on will make me a target and I am fine with it because I hope I can make some mafia slip up before I go. Everyone started coming up with ideas about how we should vote randomly and I don't think that is the answer. I found a few posters doing odd things so I thought I should bring that to light and see how they acted after they were called out, because I think that is very telling.

If the votes for me start to roll in then so be it, I will take it and post all my thoughts before the hammer falls.

Sorry are you saying that I threw out a vote? Because I haven't voted yet, I just gave some names of posters and why I thought they were suspicious.

Voting based on contributions makes sense, but what is your logic behind voting based on inactivity?

If you aren't posting you are making it easier for the mafia to stay hidden.

If you have a small posting sample how are we supposed to know if you are with the town or mafia?

I don't think Hockeyguy is mafia, he's posting just like he did before. I also think his potential targets were worth considering and he gave justified reasons for putting the bullseye on them. In other words, this is not a bandwagon I'd jump on. I'm all for putting someone on the defensive and seeing how they respond when squeezed, but again hockeyguy responds just like he did last time... when he was town.

I only hope he isn't one of the 4 with powers because if he is and he was that noisy, that's just plain bad strategy. And I think he knows better.

And I think that's enough attention on hockeyguy for now. Its time to consider others, for the benefit of this round and having information for later rounds.

inactive players wont be missed if they do get voted out. its as good a strategy as any so early on in the game and better than 'random' in case they vote someone out that has a power.

However I would tend to agree with Hockeyguy, I would think posting style should be a top priority, my guess is that Mafia members are likely to have gotten a post or two in to eliminate the possibility of being voted out due to being the last guy into the thread.

don't think hockeyguy is mafia either. If anything, I appreciate him taking the iniative while being fully aware of the fact that he is making himself a target.

also, looking at the post count that bizaro posted, I think it becomes obvious that the returning players from the first game have driven the bus so far while most of us newbies haven't added that much ... which isn't surprising at all IMO

I agree that the mafia will be fairly active early on and use the inactivity argument to get us to vote each other off.

What is key to remember is that even "dead" townies win if the townies win. We should look at being killed as a bad thing, if it moves us towards winning the game.

That is reasonable. I would disagree with that logic if there were posters with 0 posts, as it could just mean that they are away or havent checked their inbox... but everyone has posted at least once, so I am alright with this approach. At the very least, it should increase post counts/information to go on.

I still feel like SP responded oddly when I said he was posting but not really contributing. He was really the only person I mentioned that took the bait. Bizaro also responded but his reply didn't stand out to me as much as SP's did.

Yes. And I would add that Aeneas is posting a lot like he did before.... when he was mafia.
