His qualifying salary is $605,000. You could sign him for a little bit more, steal him from Edmonton and owe them no compensation at all. Unless someone gives him $1.3M/year and I don't see that happening.

Would Burke go out and sign yet another smallish forward?
You know, Conroy quite liked him. Actually really liked him, I made the grave mistake of asking about him and I think 30 minutes later I finally got a word in. He's fought to get him once, I would think he might do it again. I think most people in the Flames organization liked him too. Horak wasn't traded because he was bad/liability. He lost the numbers game and they thought he could be moved.
It also seems like Burke listens to Conroy a bit for signings, so there could be a chance.

Irks me how many articles are online from the mulletville press about how they have loaded okc up for a playoff run. They haven't even made the playoffs yet. Hope abby kicks their butts and they crash out.

Ya I like him too but he's just not worth really pushing for imo, the flames have no spot for him. He is a 3rd line centrewhen his development is done, he's not a good enough player offensively to score at the nhl level enough to merit top two lines imo and he's not gritty enough for a 4th line, he's a guy who will top out at 10-15 goals and kill some penalties.
When you look at players like Reinhart who are a couple years younger and have already eclipsed him, and the flames already having him, knight, backlund, stajan, monahan and jankowski in the system at centre, I understand why the flames moved him. Redundant.
