This. Maybe Monahan. Though right now he's looks to fit the perfect mould of a 2nd line C and I'd be most comfortable with him there and Backs the 3rd, where he could thrive for a long time for us, but having a true game-breaking talent on the top line would allow us to be set for years and match if not outmatch most in the league down the middle.

People are crazy talking about Monahan as a 2nd line center.

-19 years old
-rookie season
-leading the team in goals
-on pace for 25 goals
-doing it on a team lacking in talent

Everything about Monahan is pointing in the right direction. I would be shocked if he doesn't become a consistent 25g 40a player who can play defence. Which would make him a "1st line" player. Nobody knows if he will turn into an "elite" player but he will definitely be a first line player.

I think we were up 4-0 at that time and the cheer from the crowd after that was more than any of the 4 goals and listening to it on TV is just such a downer.

I dunno hard to write off the 19 year old kid leading our team in goals. Kind of hard to say he's plateaued at his age. If he's a 30 goal scorer in a few years what kind of production are you looking for? When was the last time we had a 30 goal centre? Nieuwendyk?

Did everyone already see that Backs was 1st star of the night last night (PS I don't know what is going on with whoever that third star is... probably some kind of mistake on the NHL site)

I think the lady was doing an impression of either a very large dog or a small child.
