Crap penalty call.
Great first period though.
Solid domination so far with lots of possession and even more scoring chances.
Well worth waking up early for.

Kunitz doesn't seem like a very smart hockey player. I've become convinced that he only scores in Pittsburgh when Crosby gets bored and starts banking shots in off of him

Unfortunate that Canada couldn't have taken even more advantage of a shaky start for Lundquist, but a solid period.
St. Louis looks like he's energized to make a difference. Hope he plays a big role in the game after his initial "snub" and limited use up to today.

Argh, now without our top 3 centres we need a miracle to turn this around. Could've used Backlund in this game

I don't know why there were a pile of complaints about Kunitz when he was given the penalty. If anything, he DREW a penalty on that play, but the ref blew the call.

If Bergeron puts his chances in, we're up by at least 3. We look pretty good so far.

Sweden has really been stretching their forwards through the neutral zone. Canada needs to continue to close the gap in centre ice and let them kill themselves with turnovers.

I'm not sure if this is the most talented Team Canada that we have ever seen, but this is without a doubt the most disciplined and committed iteration of the national team. Everyone has set aside their egos and is doing whatever is asked of them in order to win. Franchise players that are used to dictating their ice time are taking quick 30 second shifts because it is part of the game plan. Even guys like Nash and Carter, traditionally two players that have been criticized as being lazy and disinterested in defensive play have stepped up and been, in my opinion, two of the best 2-way players in this tournament. Babcock and the coaching staff really deserve a lot of credit.
