Pardon my ignorance, they play the entire 20 minutes of overtime or is it sudden death and it's all over once the tie is broken?

Unbeliveably poor defense from the US the last few minutes. And the worst of it all, what is that goalie doing?

Deflecting a puck shot from behind the net, right out front? Bad enough in regular play but with a minute to go?
