Gift wrapped for him and didn't convert.

It's not that he is a loser, it's that he is a tier lower than the rest of his teammates.

Good call. I think beers during a gold medal match involving Canada is a constitutional right or something.

Hey, for anyone watching this on Telus Optik, you can watch the non-commercial feed on channel 11. I know how you all love the dozens of Timmy's, Canadian, and Telus commercials during hockey games.

Haha, it's kinda funny, no Telus commercials, on the Telus feed!

Yup. No reason for the over-reaction. Canada is generating a ton of quality chances and getting to the centre of the ice more so than any other game in this tournament. The pucks will go in.

Trying to match Latvia's physical play is the last thing Canada should be worried about. The scoring chances are probably around 10-2. Running around try to bang bodies on the big ice isn't going to improve that.

Has Canada ever tried Crosby with Nash?

Nash is the kind of 'selfish' player Crosby might excel with. I guess the concern is that they don't want to upset Nash's other assignments. He has been fantastic so far.

Is this Latvian goalie actually holding his own or is he struggling out there? I can't really watch anything

Being the only coach in the Triple Gold Club sure defines overrated.

Latvians win the period 1-1. A perfect underdog team period.

They are playing more physically than Team Canada and playing with more hustle.

And the Latvian goaltending is coming up big. Canada obviously didn't have any sort of book or scouting on the Canadian backup.

Nolan is outcoaching Babcock with the successful set play.

Time for Canada to make some adjustments.

It isn't Sweden vs. Belarus yet, but the potential is there for an upset of epic proportions.

Only the one time, and they moved him to the wing so Stillman could center.

He's doing well, but Latvia is doing a great job picking up his rebounds. They are rushing to limit Canada's movements. When that system falls apart, Canada is getting great chances (Sharp's goal came from a breakdown, and Kunitz had a great chance because of a similar breakdown)

Only the first period. Wait for it. You'll see. I have faith that Canada will stomp on Latvia's throat today.

So that's how they lost their defensive assignment. Creative and kind of interesting.

The Latvians had one good chance and buried it. Hopefully the Canadians have that set play figured out now.

Otherwise Canada looks pretty good. Nash looks great, I hope they play the crap out of him and he'll drag his linemates along. Price has to be more careful outside his net, his casual play almost cost us.

Is CBC just now showing that it was a trick play? I'll give NBC props this time, they caught that immediately.

Did everyone miss that. Latvian set play replay cbc did? The goal scorer comes off the far side of the bench to get behind the Canadian d. That is the sort of thing we did in elementary.

Benn / Getzlaf / Perry must be a nightmare to play against.

I think it's rare that they intentionally set up their bench in such a manner. Especially when the switch is a D for a forward. Most changes are one-to-one in terms of position.
