Casino Royale (i know, im sorry). I hated it. from the very first scene with the parkour dude which bond easily outran and was waiting for him in a tractor, to the torture scene ("to left, to left) right down to ending, i hated it. the poker scenes were so boring and terribly predictable. people kept telling me for months on how it was the best movie they've ever seen, and i just had to keep smiling and nodding.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Woody Allen movies.

I want to like them, I really do. The dialogue often seems forced and the characters reactions to situations often seem absurd even though it's intended to be an organic flow of dialogue and interaction. I often find myself watching his movies and thinking "do people in New York all talk and behave like this, surely they can't all be morons?"

The other thing I've noticed about Woody Allen movies is his dialogue tends to lead to some really bad paper-thin performances. I just watched Blue Jasmine and holy hell was the acting bad. He took two of my favorite people on the planet (Dice and Louis CK) and forever besmirched them in my mind. I had to watch some old Louis standup to wash away the Woody stink. Although, Kate Blanchett was absolutely amazing and frankly saved the movie from being a complete disaster. But other film makers and actors absolutely adore and worship Allen. I don't get it.

Allen seems to make the same movie over and over again. One or two would have been okay but enough already!

I was going to mention Woody Allen movies myself, but I was afraid Cali Flames Fan was going to jump on me. I've only seen a few of them, and didn't see the love for them. Maybe it's a New York thing, or for neurotic old people, so I chalked it up to a generation gap. I also don't like most romantic comedies (like When Harry Met Sally), so that's likely a reason as well.

To add to the list, anything starring Billy Crystal (except City Slickers and The Princess Bride I suppose). Oh and most Michael Douglas movies like Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, and Jewel of the Nile. I don't mind Douglas in some roles (Falling Down), but generally I am not a fan of his work. Cary Elwes is a terrible actor too, and almost brings The Princess Bride down on his own.

• Star Wars
• Blade Runner - I kept waiting for a story line. It never came.
• Lord of the Rings - I only saw two of them (not sure how many there are?) but I fell asleep at both.
• It's a Wonderful Life
• Any Woody Allen movie where he acts in it (having said that, I usually like all the movies he directs but doesn't act in).
• Scareface. Not a terrible movie, but I think when you compare to the other great Mafia films (Goodfellas, Godfather) it feels pretty shallow. A couple good lines, but not much else.

Agreed with the above.

I enjoyed Batman Begins by far the most of all three. Also Katie Holmes is a much better Rachel, and she was actually hot, unlike the other.

I didn't realize how little I appreciated TDK until audiences blew up and raved about how good it was. I thought it was alright, (certainly the acting was commendable) but I wasn't overly impressed like many others initially. I've gained a greater appreciation for it since (upon further viewings) but at the time I thought it was weird how crazy people were about it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Everyone ALWAYS raves about it. I watched it back when it came out and didn't like it. Tried it again a couple weeks ago and got about half way before shutting it off.

I think what's even more surprising are the movies no one has mentioned yet. I know a lot of people that dislike Braveheat, and hate Mel Gibson wish a passion, yet I don't think it's been mentioned yet. Nothing with Gibson in it really, even though he turned off a lot of his fans. It's also well known to be historically inaccurate, and embodies Gibson's shortcomings as a person.

The same could be said for Saving Private Ryan, which I love, but others say it's a sappy, over long mess after the opening scene. No mentions of Schinlder's List either, but I can't see anyone actually hating that.

No one has mentioned Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison, even though they are mainly cult classics as this point.

I think I am the only one who mentioned a Hitchcock film, even though he's my favorite director. I am not sure how anyone could dislike Hitchcock, but every famous director has their fair share of haters.

No mentions of 2001, The Wizard of Oz, Terminator 1/2, The Bourne movies, Home Alone, the Die Hard series, the Connery Bond films, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Close Encounters, Ferris Bueller, Jaws, Independence Day, Will Smith movies, and other movies that are generally held in high regard.

Sucks that one person had to mention the Indiana Jones movies... Nothing can top Raiders imo.

^ Good point. I hate almost every Mel Gibson movie, not because he's a drunk, jew hating idiot but because he's a horrible actor. Mad Max was okay only because it didn't rely on his acting. But I absolutely hated the Lethal Weapons movies mostly because of the terrible, over the top acting and lousy writing.

It's easy. The acting was terrible, the scenes were unoriginal, the characters were stereotypes and the writing was bad. It was basically like watching a bad 80's TV buddy cop show, including a lot of directing and editting that reminded me of Simon and Simon, Starsky & Hutch and even the Dukes of Hazard. I did like Joe Pesci and his "they f*** you in the drivethrough!" but even that character lost it's lustre quickly.

Can you call the template buddy cop movie a stereotype?

I don't think that was the first. It wasn't even the first black & white buddy cop movie. 48 Hrs was probably the first of the genre in terms of comedies. There had been quite a few drama buddy cop movies and TV shows before that like In the Heat of the Night, Starsky and Hutch, Simon and Simon, Miami Vice, Dragnet. There's probably more.

But it's not that they used the buddy cop formula that bothered me as much as the use of the stereotypes and cliches within that formula.

Hah, no that's fine. While I like Woody Allen, I can fully appreciate that his style of films isn't for everyone. When he's on he's amazing and one of my favorite filmmakers, but more often than not he's off and things don't always gel with his movies. He has many more misses than he does hits, but his hits are very memorable.

Kill Bill

Actually for that matter, most Tarantino movies. I just don't get the appeal in him or his directing style, he bugs me

Boondock Saints

Half-baked ripoff of John Woo and Tsui Hark's 70s & 80s films (Hong Kong gun operas in general really). Absolute garbage, ####ty mishmash of 10 other better movies.

Pretty sure you have to be high or drunk to like that movie.
